Botox

Did you know

Injecting Botox under the eyes is not an approved use. Botox is intended to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in areas where there is significant muscle movement. It may be less effective when injected under the eyes than when used in the forehead, for example.

A person should thoroughly discuss the treatment, risks, and benefits with an experienced practitioner before having Botox injected under their eyes.

Hydrolised collagen peptides

Collagen peptides are short chain amino acids naturally derived from pasture-raised collagen protein. Unlike gelatin, these peptides are soluble in cold liquids as well as hot. Collagen peptides contain the same amino acids as gelatin which are identical to the protein found in skin, nails, hair, bones, cartilage, and joints. Collagen is a natural and healthy ingredient that has been used for centuries. Collagen-rich foods are a large part of traditional diets. Our ancestors utilised whole-animal nutrition, which provided an abundant amount of collagen, the native form of gelatin. Over time, we have lost touch with this powerful, healing superfood Vital Proteins Collagen Protein is sourced from pasture raised bovine hides from Brazil to ensure a natural, high quality, and sustainable source of this ancient nutritional powerhouse. Skin, Hair, and Nails • Promote youthful skin • Improve skin moisture Level • Improve skin smoothness • Prevent the formation of deep wrinkles • Stimulate new collagen production • Building blocks for healthy hair and nails Lean Body and Athletic Performance • Increase athletic performance • Maintain a lean body • Satiating protein to lose and maintain weight • Reduce recovery time from physical activity • Reduce risk of exercise-related injuries Joint and Bone Health • Maintain bone & joint health • Reduce joint pain • Prevent joint matrix degeneration • Restore bone and mineral density • Prevent osteoarthritis and oseopenia

Retin A – Tretinoin – Boost your skin

Did you know

What?

Retin A (Tretinoin) cream is a Vitamin A derivate. Tretinoin appears to increase skin cells turnover and to reduce the tendency for skin cells to stick together.

So what?

It is proven to reduce, reverse and prevent wrinkles – it is never too early or too late to start using it, it gives good results when used properly.

Retin A helps lighten the skin and prevent age spots, also builds collagen to thicken and increase the structural strength of the skin.

Retin A – Tretinoin helps also in skin cancer prevention – Important to know!

Now What!?

Retin A is a prescription only treatment – get your self a dermatologist and go for a consultation, don’t experiment your self this stuff is no joke!!

It comes in three strengths 0,25% ; 0,5% ; 0,1%

so, as a start if you never used it before is better to start with 0,25% or 0,5%.

Retin A works better at night, please remember to- WAIT 20-30 minutes after you wash your face and the to apply a PEA size of the Retin A, as I said the stuff is no joke don’t just slap it on your face ……you know, as you do ….

Some redness and flaky skin is a normal reaction to the treatment, don’t be scared, but be prepared for it. It will go for a few days, meantime good skin hydration during the day and a good foundation will do the job just fine.

Remember not to use Glycolic acid containing products

if you are using Retin A.

My advice is to start using it once or twice a week and progress slowly in order to prevent skin irritation. it is a slow process but sooo worth it, based on my experience!!

If however you reach the 0.1% and you skin reacts to it getting very red and dry then go back to 0.5% for a while and then introduce 0.1% slowly.

USING SUN BLOCK IS A MUST DURING THE DAY

Retin A is not stable on light so is advisable to be used in the evening only,

you can apply a moisturizer after Retin A if you feel like it, but let it work for about 30 minutes and then moisturize.

Again Girls and Boys go and find a dermatologist for a consultation, the Doc will assess your skin and advice which % to start with and how often!

WHAT DO PEPTIDES DO TO YOUR SKIN

Peptides

Hi guys! If you read my blog you know that I very much support the use of medical grade skin care.

So, recently I looked into what are peptides and what happens when they are applied on the skin. I am not a skin care specialist or a dermatologist, so the information I share with you is based on my research as well as my personal experience.

The fact that I am a nurse and I am trained in Botox and Dermal fillers help me to understand better the way skin chemistry works.

OK! With that being said what are Peptides?

Basically peptides are a compound made of two or more amino acids in a chain. Based on the research, peptides have skin restorative abilities, also they deliver cooper in your skin. Peptides are small particles, therefore they penetrate into deeper skin layers. All that in plain English, no fancy words to cause confusion.

When cooper is attached to a peptide that cooper goes with the peptide in the deep skin layers, cooper is effective in skin healing, by the way.

Also cooper peptides promote collagen production and is an antioxidant (we like collagen and antioxidants - yes!)

When use peptides, HOWEVER it is important to be consistent as it will take longer , may be 3-4 months before you notice any difference in you skin, so be patient! Good things happen slowly!!

When you look into the ingredients there must be

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide

Palmitoul Tetrapeptide - 7

These two are the more common, but there are some other which are good as well

Palmitoyl Pentapeptide - 3 simulates collagen

Acetyl Hexapeptide - 3 which is similar to Botox because keeps the muscles relaxed therefore prevents wrinkles.

Anyway, peptides are better used as a serum not as a cream because in a serum they can penetrate into the skin easier and reach deeper layers that the cream formula which stays on the surface.

So far, so good but which one to use, well I looked into that I what I found was,

first, peptides are part of your skin care routine, so they need to be combined with the moisturizer, sun block and all the rest of it,

second, apparently the best on the market are

Advanced Dermatology - leading with 97%

followed by Revive and La Prairie with 86%.

So I will have a go with one of those, see what happens, will keep you posted!

What do you use, let me know?

What is an injectable moisturizer

Did you know

The Injectable moisturisers are getting popular very quickly these days, so let’s have a look what are they, and how do they work.

We all know by now what are facial fillers, and the fact that they are used for replenishing the volume in the face which depletes with age.

However, the injectable moisturisers are different.

They are made of hyaluronic acid, which stimulated the tissues, by hydrating the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and pushing the elastin to smooth and tightens the skin.

The hyaluronic acid and the way it is formed in the injectable moisturiser is not the same as in the regular fillers.

Why is good,

well because it bypasses the skin barrier and penetrates in the deep layers where the facial creams cannot reach.
Stimulates skin to produce more collagen and elastin while “plumping skin directly where needed

There are three injectable moisturisers which take the lead and are proven to work AND they are safe HOWEVER I can not stress enough the importance of having a consultation with a MEDICAL professional who will make an assessment and offer the best option for you.

Here are the main players:

Profhilo®,

Juvéderm Volite,

Teosyal Redensity 1
