As someone with natural curls, I can understand and sympathize with others that struggle to love their curls. Wearing your natural hair has become a much more normalized part of society but that doesn’t mean it has gotten any easier to care for your curls. There are lots of products out there in the hair world and sometimes that can become very overwhelming for someone starting out.

Caring for your curls can be much more simple than social media has made it seem. Below is a list of tips & tricks made easy that I use for myself and for clients to help with styling curly hair.

✿ Finding a curl cream or leave in treatment that will help to moisturize your curls.

✿ Washing your hair with shampoos & conditioners meant for curly hair. It is up to personal preference but avoiding silicones that are in some products can benefit your curls as well.

✿ Scrunching your hair upwards once you have the product in will help form your curls and protect against unwanted frizz.

✿ Do not brush your hair while it is dry. Curly hair is more prone to breakage so to protect against that, only brush your hair while it is wet.

✿ Curly hair has a tendency to be very thick and it can seem weighed down so including some layers in your haircuts will help to eliminate that feeling and give you more volume.

These are all very simple tricks that you can include in your routine that will help you fall in love with your curls again & feel your best.
