Why “AVALANCHE”?
AVALANCHE is a nod to the anti-imperialist/ anti-capitalist group in the video game Final Fantasy VII as our group’s comrades met through a shared interest of video games and anime in spaces like anime conventions and fan circles. We’ve seen how community is built in these spaces, and we’ve seen the impact media can have in peoples’ lives. So while narratives about anti-imperialism and anti-capitalism resonate in our favorite video games like Final Fantasy VII and animes like Princess Mononoke, we hope fans will put into practice a familiar care we see from some of our favorite characters!

And just as FFVII’s AVALANCHE has grown and evolved throughout the history of the FFVII compilation, we also aim to prioritize our own accountability and education centered around community care and harm-reduction. So if you ever have feedback, we’d love to hear it!

II. @SBMACareClub

South Bay Mutual Aid Care Club works in solidarity with our neighbors living unhoused in the South Bay of LA through mutual aid distros at local encampments. They also provide many other essential forms of support (such as legal assistance, medical care, tents, and harm reduction) to those coping with the many hardships experienced while unhoused— particularly through the targeted and violent escalations of LA’s Section 41.18. Donations ensure that this critical work is able to continue.

+ Grow our directory lists (mutual aid, gardens, radical book stores, educational resources, and fridges)!

+ Promote ongoing mutual aid funds and petitions!

+ Highlight Covid-19, monkeypox, and other healthcare resources!

+ Assemble tool kits for those that are unable to physically mobilize in organized spaces.

+ Showcase more of our favorite abolitionist, anti-imperialist, and anti-capitalist media!
