Artist’s Intent“After being diagnosed with Bipolar and PTSD, Breanna Santos took up painting to find peace in the noise and confusion of her symptoms. Through her eye-catching abstract pieces, she brings brilliant, glowing colors side-by-side with inky hues and sombre forms to introduce a neon solace in a world that can be shadowed with darkness. These abstract pieces are comprised of unreal planes and shapes that help the artist pose the hypothetical questions, "What are we experiencing?" and "Where can we find joy?"”
I was recently selected as Virginia’s 40 under 40 artists by the Shenandoah Valley Art Center.
I was selected for Gallerium’s 2023 Shapes and Colors show and publication.
I am an abstract artist working in acrylic, pencil, charcoal, ink, oil pastels, and chalk pastels on reclaimed canvases as well as traditional gallery-wrapped canvases.
I source many of my reclaimed canvases and panels from locally-owned shops, restoring them into usable pieces.
I’m inspired by the space where nature’s curves meet contemporary line. I use subtle texture, unexpected layering and a unique palette calling to contemporary pop.
I work from my studio in my native Virginia, as well as manifesting pop up locations in New York City, Brooklyn, And LA.

I’m the founder of Mothers in Design, Art and Sciences’ whose purpose is to bring together like-minded mothers, women and people who have crossed the threshold into caring for another being.
As time for inquisitiveness, creativity and study can be lessened when nurturing others, we aim to create conversations and events centered around infusing our complicated and busy lives with imagination.
Our manifesto is to uphold ourselves and others to continue pursuing vision in our creative fields throughout motherhood, with support and camaraderie.
We welcome all sexes, ages and genders, and use “mother” to mean a state of being.
