Sally Watson

Cardinal Creek Arts

I loved paper dolls as a child and now I get to play with them in my colorful pencil paintings which include vintage doll clothes and imaginary faces and places. If you like vintage, color and fun these art works are for you. I also do miniature, acrylic paintings and larger acrylic paintings.

The drawing above was done for a friend and the outfit is from a classic 1970’s Barbie paper doll book.

Larger Acrylic Paintings.

Okra II

Acrylic on 9” x 12” canvas

I love the way okra looks like stars when sliced this way. As far as eating it, you either love it or hate it. I like to fry it in olive oil, but even if you don’t like to eat it, I think it makes a great painting. SOLD

View from the back porch

Acrylic on 9” x 12” canvas

A peaceful and lovely spot to take in nature.

Shell Life I

Acrylic on 11” x 14” canvas

I love the ocean and when I was a child you could find whole shells on NC coast. Not so much now, but the shells broken or otherwise still fascinate me.

Shell Life II

Acrylic on 11” x 14” canvas

Conch shells, broken and whole.

Church in the Blue Ridge

Acrylic on 16” x 20” canvas

I also love the mountains-North Carolina has it all! A very serene spot.

Cornbread & Coffee

Acrylic on 16” x 20” canvas

My mother’s cast iron skillet. I liked the cast shadow on my kitchen counter. I also like cornbread and coffee, although not necessarily together!

Pepper and Okra

Acrylic on 16” x 20” canvas

More Okra but pods this time with stars sprinkled in. This would look great in a dining room, kitchen or restaurant.

1979

Acrylic 16” x 20” on canvas

Why 1979? That was year I bought these Frye boots, the first purchase I made after I got a job teaching art. I did not last as a teacher but I still have the boots!

Disco

Acrylic on 16” x 20” canvas.

A homage to my Candies from the late 70’s, early 80’s. Sadly I wore them out, but they were great shoes.

Luck and Money

Acrylic on 16” x 20” canvas

In the South we eat Black Eye Peas and Collards on New Year’s Day, He peAs for luck and the collards for money in the coming year.

Mother’s Day

Acrylic on 16”x 20” canvas

When I was a child, on Mother’s Day when you went to church, you wore a white flower if you mother was deceased and a red one if your Mother was still alive. I know, I know the flower is not red but the peach color matched the other colors better. Artistic License!

Peppers

Acrylic on 16”x 20” canvas

More food still life for the dining room, kitchen, restaurant or wherever.
