A quiet riot with lots of questions
LIA.RS
A quiet riot hailing from the land of the Mvskogee people in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Lia Russell-Self, they/them/their, is a queer, neurospicy, Black multifaceted weaver of stories, healing, plants, often grappling with juxtaposed theories and the unexpected. One can often find Lia in land of the Mohican people, in the hills that join Massachusetts and New York. From a young age, the algebra to understand how words could string together creating a coherent (and, on rare occasion, captivating) thought fascinated this once-short daydreamer and would eventually become the crux of how they interacted with the world. Their hands are often covered in dirt, their heart full of curiosity, and their poetry reflecting the community that loves them. Their current work is often wrestling with how identities, imposed and claimed, and immediate communing can spark the loud secrets we keep best hidden. Kith & kin, growth, and connection to the land are the roots of their inspiration.
