Founded in 2019, Phantasmagoria is a small business that sells handcrafted origami earrings. Each pair of earrings uses smaller parts of origami paper and is carefully handcrafted with love. As the earrings are handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly the same, making each pair of earrings truly unique. Phantasmagoria uses surgical stainless steel (304), a hypoallergenic material. This material is safe for people with sensitive skin. Using stainless steel also means the earrings will not have discolouration over time.

The most common question I receive about origami earrings is: “Since it is made from origami paper, is it durable?”. Well, the origami is coated with paper sealant, which makes the earrings water-resistant (NOT waterproof!). Rain and sweat are ok! But avoid getting them wet to maintain the quality of the earrings! Additionally, although the sealant-coated origami accessories are generally quite durable, please avoid getting them squashed (e.g. stacked under heavy items).

Hi! I am Flo (vloohsd). You might know me as the girl who always asks people to join her TikTok content at anime conventions. Or you might even know me way before that when I was still actively participating in Artist Alley, back in 2016-2019. So how and when did I start making origami jewellery? I had a great interest in the art of origami since my high school years (fun fact: I was part of the Origami Club in high school! ww).

It was not until 2019 I discovered and bought origami jewellery for the first time. Long story short, I lost one of the earrings I bought. Then out of frustration, I tried to find a similar-looking paper and tried making earrings to replace the lost one. Of course, it turned out to be a disaster since I didn’t have any background in jewellery making at that time. Although I did not end up making the other half, I found my passion in designing and crafting origami jewellery through that experience. After countless trials and errors, I decided to bring my creations to the market, which a lot of people love. Phantasmagoria remains active in online stores and some designer markets in Indonesia from 2019 to early 2022.

In early 2022, I decided to temporarily stop managing Phantasmagoria to focus on my studies and professional career. Now that I have finished my studies I want to continue pursuing my hobby in my spare time while working full-time. I want to rekindle the passion that lies dormant in me, which is to show the art of origami and jewellery-making to more people. Hopefully this year I will get to meet more people who share similar interests both at markets or conventions and through social media!
