Get to know me!

I’m Passionate about making a difference in this world

I’ve always known that I wanted to be in healthcare. My original path had taken me down the road to become a doctor and after years of studying and going to college; I found myself expecting my first child. Unfortunately I lost my beautiful baby girl full term due to still birth caused by a genetic disorder that was barely being researched or spoken about. I can recall the look of confusion on my doctors face at my appointment before my devastating loss. Ever since then I have been an advocate not only for my own health but in helping others find their voice within the healthcare system. 22 years and 3 children later, I still have that passion for helping women.

My friends call me a mother of many because I’ve helped birth and raise countless children in our community; but I also want to support women who are experiencing every beautiful stage of life. From pregnancy pre-planning, pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum, nutritional support and mastectomy and breast cancer support. I have an extensive knowledge of pregnancy related genetic disorders, medical terminology, natural labor and delivery techniques as well as labors that require medical interventions.

As a woman of color I know how the maternal mortality rates continue to rise within our communities. In the year 2022 this should not be the case. It’s been proven that women who have a doula in conjunction with their regular healthcare provider, are better informed, and can make decisions that can provide better outcomes and a more positive experience.

If you’d like to know more about me or hear my story feel free to reach out. I truly believe this is my calling in life and look forward to the opportunity to get to know you better.

So many reasons

The World Health Organization recommends that every birthing woman have a doula, but why?

Labor reduction

The time you actually are in labor can be reduced by 25% due to the encouragement, comfort and confidence a doula can provide.

Narcotic use reduction

Having a doula can reduce the need for narcotic pain meds during labor by 30% , using methods such as massage and focus therapy to help manage and control pain.

Reduction of the use of forceps

The idea of needing to use forceps during delivery can be scary. Having a doula can reduce the need for its use by up to 30% through assistance in positioning and helping you find your voice when desiring an intervention free birth.

40% reduction in use of Pitocin

Doulas can help your labor progress naturally and at a safe and healthy pace using techniques such as walking or using a birthing ball. Some Mom’s even decide to dance their babies out!

And the list goes on……

Reduce risk for an unplanned C-section
Reduce your need for an epidural
Higher apgar scores for baby
Preserving better birth memories
Improved bonding and breastfeeding
Decreased risk of PPD Postpartum Depression
