Laki Mata —
Laki Mata is a girl character made by a Filipina visual artist, Celine Policarpio. Celine's art character is originally based on her little sister named Baburoo. She is described as a small kid with big eyes and has an odd way expressing herself. The artist would always draw this little girl until the character grows into every woman she admire. Laki Mata became the representation of who we are and how we grow - from little girls to a grown woman.

We live in a society where a rule book on "How a woman should be" exists. We have been taught to suppress our sexual and sensual feelings to be a proper lady. It's always not appropriate to talk about sex and our own body. It has been a mindset that only through supression of the sexual and the sensous that the world will respect us. So we learn to hide our sexual desires, curiosity and connections.
I am hoping for a community where supression is not the answer. That self-respect is nothing to do with sex and nudity. That we will all understand that every single person are different and different things empower different people.
