About
Welcome to my SLP LIFE
“Hi good morning! My name is Tina from Speech Therapy. I’m here to evaluate your speech and language and/or swallow function.” .
I say this at LEAST 6-7 times a day and it never gets old. Yes, even in these crazy times. I’m an acute Speech Language Pathologist, and I’ve been working in this area for 6 years now. I was born and raised in Miami, FL and still live here because I just can’t escape the sun and warm weather.
As an acute care therapist, I’m usually one of the first to treat patients for rehabilitation of speech and language and/or swallow. It’s a very fast paced world, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. How do I feel about what’s going on? I’m a bit anxious, but I’m working on keeping myself calm for my co-workers and I attempt to stay positive throughout as we are all adjusting to these changes.
From time to time I cover in the NICU assisting neonates develop and coordinate safe and pleasurable feeding skills. Now, I will try and see them before I hit the floor or wear proper PPE before I evaluate and treat a neonate.
I’m a wife and mom of two. I have a 4 year old Oliver and 1 year old Lana. Life can get a little crazy sometimes, but at the end of the day, I sit and reflect on the fact that this is where I am meant to be at this exact moment in time. I’m taking my days off to slow down, disconnect from society, and enjoy the tiny things in life. ❤️
