About
My name is Aleeya
My name is Aleeya LoneFight. I am from the MHA Nation in North Dakota on the Fort Berthold Reservation. I am a member of the Three Affiliated Tribes on my mother's side. On my father's side, I am Muscogee/Creek. I was raised as a bit of a Native American traditionalist, so I am very proud of my culture and where I come from. I am not a shy person, so I really enjoy engaging in class and giving my thoughts on whatever the current topic may be. I enjoy hearing new perspectives and exploring new ideas and concepts. All that being said, I do sometimes get anxious if I am a bit overwhelmed.
Unfortunately, often this makes me talk even more. I really get energy by interacting with people and hearing their ideas. I am definitely more of an extrovert than most of the people I know. I suppose that is part of the reason I ended up going away to college; so I could meet new people and experience new and exciting things. I am deeply passionate about writing and do it all the time in my free time. I enjoy writing so much that I ended up writing a few novels that I may publish in the future. I am currently undeclared for my major, but since I enjoy writing, I will likely go into creative writing. Overall I want to keep my options open and take in as much as I can.
I haven't thought too far ahead into the future. I am the type of person who very much likes to take things one day at a time and remain in the present. While I enjoy writing and could very well end up in a career where I primarily do, I also think I could end up in a completely different field. My mother initially thought she was going to be a lawyer, and she ended up becoming a geospatial scientist. My father grew up on the reservation and went to Dartmouth College and Stanford University. He said he never in his life would have planned that and has a career that he could never have foreseen, so he cautions me to plan with a great deal of flexibility for change! I am also a traditional dancer and carry my family's stories from countless generations.
