About
Culinary curations & more
Originally from México City & now a long-time Santa Barbara resident, Alvaro grew up in his parent’s commercial kitchen shadowing his father and picking up skills from his father’s classic French techniques. In 1992 Alvaro opened his first venue, Chilango's Mexican Restaurant. Still in his early twenties, Chilango’s served to further Rojas' autodidactic culinary training. In 2000, Alcazar Tapas Bar opened followed by milk & honey tapas in 2007. Most recently, The Glass House cocktail garden has become a leader in Santa Barbara’s cocktail culture. Alvaro’s award-winning food and cocktail menus have come to be known as part of the Santa Barbara culinary landscape for almost 30 years.
Alcazar, milk & honey tapas bar, and most recently The Glass House along with Rojas'
periodic pop-up projects like Spare Parts Bistro and Slate Catering Collaborations continue to be a driving force
in the innovative Santa Barbara food and craft cocktail scene.
