My Story

My name is Angélique and here is my story. ♡

Once upon a time, there was a little girl 👧🏼 from a tiny village named St-Cleophas-de-Brandon in the province of Quebec, ⚜ Canada. 🇨🇦
She was kind and shy, had many different interests, a big heart and even bigger dreams. 💭

Okay, enough of the fairytales🧚🏼‍♀️ and talking at the 3rd person. 😆

Being the oldest of a family of 4, I was always a very resourceful child. I could play on my own and didn't rely on anyone to have fun. I was interested by many things, from reading to roleplaying and managing people (a.k.a playing the Sims 2.) 🙈 I was considered generous, intelligent and kindhearted by my surroundings.🌹

Some might say my name fitted me well... until high school. 😅 Yes, things went south when I became a teen. Just like most of us, I was lost and I was trying to find myself. Also, my parents got divorced just as I started high school. Things were not like they used to be, there was a lot of resentment and angriness coming from both sides, many events occured and during many years I had no relationship with my father, 👤 I was barely talking to my mom. I was not in a good place at that moment in my life. Fortunately, I fell in love with theatre 🎭 and became a lot more open and talkative. I also started to travel during that period. ✈

I had learned Spanish in high school and loved it so I decided to study languages in college. I learned German... and then lost it for a lack of practice. 🤐 At that point in my life, I have had seen so many amazing and inspiring teachers, I was an A student in most subjects (to this day, math stays my nemesis), it kind of lead me naturally to study education at university. I saw myself teaching pretty much any subejct that I was passionate about, which are many. 🤭 With my language background, I started a Bachelor in Teaching Second Languages at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières. I started my bachelor smoothly, without any worries.

In September 2016, I had some big unexpected news. To explain that event, I have to take you far back, in elementary school. ⏳ Around 4th-5th grade, I developped a medical condition I wasn't aware I had. I was falling asleep everywhere, at anytime during the day. 💤 We first though it was normal, nothing too unusual because growing up request a lot of energy and I was just a little more tired than the rest of the kids. Everyday for a whole decade, 🗓 I was undeliberately missing parts of my classes and exams, falling asleep in the bus, in the car, during lunch time, while hanging out with my friends... 😓 I was made fun of, not in a bad way necessarily, but it was odd for the people around. I can understand that: it was even odd for ME ! But I still managed to excel in my classes because I wanted to.

Then in 2016, 📣 the diagnosis came: I had Narcolepsy. I was told it was not curable, that I could never function properly, unless I take some medication everyday for the rest of my life.💊 I was 19 years old. I could not imagine myself taking prescription pills everyday like a 70 year-old. 😞 I was crushed. Why me ? How did it happen ? Nobody knows.

I am now in my 2️⃣0️⃣'s. I have learned to overcome these insecurities, learned to manage these emotions and learned to communicate better. I have travelled the world, 🌎 but I still want to see more of it ! I have very close friends I can count on.👯🏼‍♀️ I have my family near me. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 I study in a field I love. 📚 I have a business that makes me feel great everyday of my life. 🌱 I feel empowered. 💪🏼 I feel happy. 🌻 I feel better than I've ever been.

I did not want to become a teacher 👩🏼‍🏫 for nothing: I want to help the people around me to feel like I feel everyday. 🦋 I want to empower them. I want to help them make the necessary change in their lives to achieve their true potential and reach out for their dreams. 💫 I'm currently doing it ! 🥰

Nothing is impossible and I want you to realize it. 💯 { Aspire to Inspire } is my motto for a reason.❣
