BEFORE WE BEGIN YOUR GUIDE TO THE OUTDOORS

This blog is NOT attended for mountaineering or advanced terrain. Before embarking on your trip, make sure you’re comfortable with the miles, elevation gain, and have prepared for weather conditions. Safe Travels!

Whether this is your first ascend into the mountains or your 100th, When it comes to backpacking there is always more to be learned. To prevent you from making the same simple mistakes I did, I've created an easy to navigate layout of some of the essentials I believe are necessary. Just a reminder, Everyone is different and This is your journey to your final destination. Take things at your pace and spend at your cost; These are only my personal recommendations from the experiences I have had.

By now you hopefully know backpacking gear can get expensive fairly quickly
And cutting cost means cutting comfortability. Over the years I've realised, paying the extra dime means longer lasting gear and more reliable resources. If you are looking for a one time use or a weekend getaway I recommend renting from a local REI or other nearby adventure companies. Below I have listed some items for all four seasons of backpacking.

BACKPACKING LIGHT WIEGHT TENTS

SLEEPING PADS

COOKING

For most of my backpacking trips I have used to Jet Boil stove, it has Been my best backpacking upgrade so far. The jet boil is much faster and efficient than other stoves especially in any weather condition. The boil already comes with a pot attachment and is great for heating up water quickly. I also added a more affordable and also efficient stove linked below.

HYDRATION

The most important thing when you are backpacking or even on a day hike is staying hydrated. Make sure you do your research before and know how hard the terrain is going to be. Another major factor is the weather make sure you are prepared for hot or cold drinking water. below I have listed some natural water purifying systems as well as extra hydration gear to bring.

About me

Anna Bucklar

As a young girl I was constantly surrounded by the outdoors, camping, hiking and biking. after moving away for college I expanded more into the outdoors on my own. In 2019 I began rock climbing in and indoor gym and grew more than a passion for it, it became my life. After spending months in an indoor setting I wanted the real deal. My first ascent was in North Carolina at Rumbling Bald. Sense then I have not only wanted to be outdoors everyday but also wanted to share that passion with the world. I began to write and photograph my experiences around the world and have created a community of young passionate women like myself. Little did I know this would be my new career. The outdoors has done wonders for me and has created me as a young girl and women. I hope to continue to spread the positivity of the outdoors.
