About us

Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity (AOII) was founded on January 2, 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City. The ideals of sincerity, service, and friendship provide the foundation for AOII. As one of our founders Stella George Stern Perry explained, "We cared so profoundly for one another that we unconsciously desired a society based upon original feeling... We felt that as love never faileth, a future on that foundation was assured."

With more than 196,000 initiated members from more than 200 collegiate chapters, the values on which AOII was founded help lead us in the decisions we make and the behaviors we exhibit in our daily lives. We are inspired to promote the values of simplicity, integrity, tolerance, generosity, personal dignity, and love. Our lives are to be living symbols of these values that we hold in common. They enable us to go with character and confidence into the world around us, with assurance in knowing AOII is ours, offering friendships and opportunities throughout our lifetime.

AOII is guided by The Object of the Fraternity and our Culture Principles.

The Lambda Delta chapter was colonized in February 2014 at Dalton State College. On April 12, 2014, the Colony Class was initiated, and Lambda Delta was installed as the 201st chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi by the former International President, Allison Allgier. For three consecutive years, Lambda Delta has achieved "Ruby Level," which is the highest level of accreditation a chapter can receive from the International Fraternity. In addition to being recognized for this accomplishment, Lambda Delta continues to excel in various areas within the International Fraternity. Lambda Delta was honored at the AOII International Convention 2015 with an Excellence in Membership Recruitment award and an honorable mention in Excellence in Philanthropy. The summer of 2015, Lambda Delta was honored at AOII Leadership Institute 2016 with an Outstanding Leaders Council award. In the summer of 2017 at the AOII International Convention, we were honored to recieve another award in Outstanding Leaders Council. The members of Lambda Delta are excited to continue this tradition of excellence in the 2018-2019 school year.
