About

Sarah Sharber

Ive been creating all my life! I have finally been wanting to get my art out into the world. Each piece is a unique expression of my inner world, and I am excited to share my art with others and see how it resonates with them. I believe that art is a powerful tool that can help to bring people together and to connect us all. It is a way to express emotions and to create a shared experience. I am excited to see where my art takes me and the people I meet along the way.

I am currently attending Youngstown State University for studio art. I use a variety of different mediums including acrylics, ceramics, and designing stickers.

A junior art portfolio review is a way to assess a student's work and direction in anticipation of their senior exhibition

As an artist working primarily with acrylic paint, I delve into the profound beauty and mystery of the oceans, with a particular fascination for whales. I have always been captivated by the ocean, a fascination that has deepened over time to include whales. Recently, these magnificent creatures have become a central focus in my work. My work serves as a tribute to these majestic creatures and the intricate ecosystems they inhabit, inviting viewers to reflect on the delicate balance of marine life and the urgent need for conservation.

In my painting, I intend for the whales to be the main focal point, surrounded by a muted background that allows their colors to truly pop. This approach emphasizes their beauty and significance, drawing the viewer's eye directly to these creatures while creating a sense of depth in the surrounding environment. I water down the paint to create a glazing effect for my shadows, allowing for a more subtle depth in my work. By applying multiple layers, I build up complexity and texture.

Through vibrant colors and dynamic forms, I aim to capture the grace and power of whales, exploring their presence as symbols of strength. I hope to inspire a deep emotional connection to the ocean and its inhabitants.
