Who is Aiden Gamez?

Incredibly talented autistic multi disciplinary child artist.

Aiden has been painting since he was 2 years old, avidly. His first serious work started at age 3 when we noticed him taking finger painting to a whole new level. His pieces were so well thought out and fully covering that he gained interest from adults and other local artists in our community. He sold his first round of paintings at age 3, and continues to earn money selling his artwork to this day.

Accumulatively he's sold over 300 pieces since 2013. He’s been sculpting and learning mixed media techniques since age 3, animating since age 5, and his first acting debut was for a short film The Living Circus in 2021 at age 10. He has been internationally published in magazines many times, appeared on television and has had exhibitions in galleries all over the world to include the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, Germany, Shanghai China, Amsterdam, Canada and several states in the USA.

He is also the author of Baggish, a beautiful story full of imagination for which his mother illustrated through photography. He is published in two other books as well, all three from a publishing firm in Canada.

We see greatness in his future; for it is undeniably visible in his present.

BAGGISH

A book by child author Aiden Gamez

A Word on Autism  —

Aiden would like to change the way people see autism.

“I will help them change their minds.”
—Aiden Gamez

“The way his brain functions may be different.
Sensory issues overpower him at times, he can’t handle people fighting or babies crying and he has a hard time staying still...
But don’t we all?
At least from time to time, yes.

Autism can often look like the things that go on inside of each of us all the time every day.
For autistic individuals, they simply externalize it.
That is authenticity standing on its own two feet.

I have the unique luck of myself as a parent being neurodivergent as well.
Unlike Aiden, I was undiagnosed as a child and taught to mask every quirk, every inquiry, every tendency.
Made to feel that I didn’t fit anywhere and there was inherently something wrong with me.

I’m overjoyed to know that my son is not being raised to feel unwanted or unwelcome.
He’s raised to be who he is and celebrated for it every day.

He creates at will and is facilitated for when he needs help.
His grown cousins and teachers play tag with him because they get that’s how he breaks the ice.
His grandpa mimics funny noises with him for long intervals of time like a secret language leaving the two of them laughing hysterically.
When people look at him funny for getting up and dancing in public, dad and I get up and dance with him.

I asked him what he thinks he can do about the way a lot of people see autism as a bad thing.
Without blinking he so innocently said to me, “I will help them change their minds.”
And I believe he will.

I hope you’ll believe it too.”

We Care Wildlife Sanctuary

SAVE the Primates!

This is a crucial time for our rescue facility. We are in the process of upgrading and installing safety fencing around our exotic enclosures. The total linear fencing is 900 feet. This construction is necessary for us to reopen our doors to the public. Upon its completion, the sanctuary will be officially upgraded to a rescue facility that will allow the public to share and participate further.

The price is just under $30,000 USD. That sounds like a lot, right? However, with a minimal donation of just $35, a person can fund a foot of fence for the much-needed safety enclosures for our primate residents. For everyone who funds one foot of fencing, we will create weatherproof fence tags displaying your name, family, group name, or "In memory of" to recognize your compassion and care for our rescues. You will also receive an in-kind donation letter as all donations are tax-deductible.

Thank you so much for your help!!! There is no "I" in WE Care Wildlife Sanctuary. Together, we make the difference in our animals' lives and welfare.
