About Me

Ashia Rain Aubourg

I identify as (she/her) and am Black with roots from Haiti 🇭🇹 & Bermuda 🇧🇲
~
Food is:
• nourishment
• justice
• healing
• power

Intrigued by all aspects of food, I attended Syracuse University, where I received my BA in Food Studies & BS in Policy Studies, focusing on community-based food systems and public policy.

Since then, I have worked with food justice, public health, and education non-profits. I have found a passion for fostering an equitable food system and through amplifying Black and systemically excluded food narratives and designing internal operations rooted in equity and justice.

When I am not working on food justice projects, you can find me selling baked goods and infused coconut waters at farmers markets OR on my stoop-garden trying to keep my plants from dying. Visit @nourishedpalate on Instagram for more food content.

Current Projects:
• Operations & Culture Specialist at the Chicago Food Policy Action Council
• Founder of Nourished Palate (nourished-palate.com)
• Freelance Writer at Cuisine Noir
• Planning Committee Member at the Austin Community Food Coop
