Extensions Aftercare
At-home care for handtied hair extensions.
Here are all my top tips and product recs to ensure your extensions look just as good at home as in the salon!
Sleeping
Never sleep with wet extensions. Silk Pillowcase highly recommended!
Shampooing
For shampooing, only use sulfate free salon quality shampoo. Doing two shampoos and scrubbing on top and below each piece will ensure the extensions are fully cleansed.
Wash hair max 2-3 times per week.
Condition
Make sure ALL shampoo is rinsed on the inside of the hair. Apply conditioner/hair mask on mid shaft to ends.
Leave-in Products
Always apply a leave-in detangler after shampooing to protect and prep the hair prior to detangling and styling.
Brushing
Brush periodically to avoid tangling. Start from bottom and work your way up to the root.
Heat styling
Minimize the use of hot styling tools. When using heat tools, do not use higher than 350-375F.
Products
Do proper care on the hair to ensure shine, softness, and manageability. I recommend moisture hair mask once a week, and oiling the hair twice a week.
Proper maintenance
Schedule maintenance every 6-8 weeks.
Without proper maintenance appointments, there’s a risk to cause damage to your hair. Highly recommended to pre-book your appointments!
