What does it mean to seek first Gods kingdom? Jesus introduced this idea in his sermon on the mount. He said in Matthew 6:33 but seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. I think that the easiest way to test this throughout your life is to ask yourself the question will this matter in eternity and if the answer is yes in my all means follow through with it, but if the answer is no then you should really question your motive behind it, and if your desire is with a pure heart. Philippines 4:8 says “finally brothers and sisters whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent, or praiseworthy think about such things.” Colossians 3:2 says “set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.” both of these two versus tell us how to live your life of seeking God. Simply to just be always be thinking about the things of God. If I was to summarize what these things are it would be your own salvation, obeying his word, and sharing the good news with others. God is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. So why wouldn’t we, as believers, have our hearts and minds set always on him. Distractions, I believe is the only reason that our minds are not on him all the time. This world is full of things that take your mind of what is good. I believe that the devils biggest game is to get you distracted & thinking about anything more then you think about God. If can do this, he can change the direction you are going away from where God wants you to be; however if your mind is constantly set on God and his kingdom then devil has lost his greatest game. In all reality everything that you do starts first in your mind, so if you can control your thoughts you can control your life. And to keep a life of seeking God’s kingdom you just keep your mind set on God himself, and what he’s done for you.
