Arts/Design

Born in Jakarta. Studied at Department of Interior Design, Faculty of Visual Arts, Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta. Currently living and working in Jakarta. Besides as an artists, he also running Tigerrr Studio as a place to explore and experiment in graphic, fashion and interior design.

Awahab blends elements of the many different life experiences he had into artwork. Pulling from range of sources, including art history, fashion and Indonesian and American pop culture, he describes his aesthetic voices as a type of re-mixing; blending and borrowing from a range of different visual and cultural sources. With these various references, he intends to trigger conversations about self identity, diversity, and the impact of globalization. His goal is to create images that speak vividly to the diversity of our time.

Visual works of processing post-cubism forms made with a glocal context, a sign of mixing in pop imagery.

Works becomes a reflection of life experiences that have been undertaken as well as evaluation and self criticism which can also represent various issues.

How the sound made by a device could provoke the joy of anyone who heard it.

Based on the moog story at the beginning of its creation. That I read from Wikipedia.

.... Moog developed a prototype with two VCOs and a VCA. As the VCOs themselves could output voltage, one could be used to modulate the output of another, creating effects such as vibrato and tremolo. According to Moog, when Deutsch saw this, he "went through the roof" and immediately began making music with the prototype, attracting the interest of passersby: "They would stand there, they’d listen and they’d shake their heads ... What is this weird shit coming out of the basement?"....

We should all really be more aware of the deeper meaning of this, and when something hurts, take a step back out of yourself and look at your situation from an outside perspective, and with a little time, everything will become clear... and in the bigger picture, everything's not too bad... because we LEARN from ours, AND OTHERS mistakes.⁣⁣

We are all connected. All of us. Everything.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We are here to learn from each other, and grow. Learn as much as you can. We don't have much time.⁣⁣

We need to be good to each other, and do what makes sense, in the big picture. :( but hey, Everybodys gotta learn sometime.

Masih tentang kisah album 'Murka Membara, Santai Melantai' nya @stereovila. ⁣

Saya mencoba memvisualkan lagu 'Dendam Membara'. Tentunya dengan bahasa rupa yang saya punya. Sebuah lagu yang akhirnya disepakati masuk dalam album ini. Lagu yang pada awalnya membuat kita tertawa tiap kali mendengarnya, tapi semakin diresapi ternyata ini adalah lagu yang menjadi semacam 'ramalan' situasi terkini. Lirik yang tidak begitu saja diterjemahkan sebagai sebuah kisah percintaan, tapi adalah sebuah ungkapan kekesalan terhadap situasi politik terkini. ⁣

Dengan gaya bertutur dan bermusik yang santai khas stereovila, mengkritik tanpa harus mengecam, protes tanpa harus teriak-teriak. Lagu ini cukup mewakili spirit itu. Pun keseluruhan materi album keduanya. ⁣

Ditengah 'hujan synthesizer' lagu ini menjadi oase tersendiri dengan nuansa akustik gitar yg dimainkan produser kita tercinta @tomowidayat. (dikarenakan igi @rockaradipa tidak cukup mampu skill nya memainkan gitar dengan rapi hehehe).⁣

Ada nuansa organ hammond 'Whiter Shade of Pale' - Procol Harum yang menambah greget dan menjadi jejak referensi musik stereovila. Dari yang jauh kebelakang sampai musik danceable kekinian.
