During Spring workshops will focus on quieting the mind through guided practices, so you can become more clear with your heart’s desire, as you sow a seed of inspiration. To empower yourself and create more space to bloom.

The art of creative expression is a transformative art that lives within us all ~ through our breath, movements, voice and our words. It is our ESSENCE.

Schedule:

We meet in a sacred circle, as you are guided into a deep relaxation through breath awareness and body felt focusing as a doorway to insight and deep communication. From there you will explore a soft awakening through expressive movement therapy as a way of releasing any tension in the physical and energetic body. This therapeutic process will awaken your inner brilliance, essence and intuitive power as you claim space and come home. It can feel very healing and rejuvenating.

The session will be accompanied with Yin and Reiki as we slow the journey down giving you time to take pause in shavasana to allow space for integration and grounding.

About Joanne

I am passionate, nurturing and all heart ❤︎

My name is Joanne and I am an Art Therapist and Yoga Teacher. I love to explore the depths of human consciousness and emotions through Art Therapy, Movement and Yoga. I have always had a passion to deeply connect to others through creativity, movement, self-inquiry, laughter and holding a space for others to express themselves freely without judgement. A space that allows you to just be. I strive to role model the importance of emotional expression, authenticity and healing, to create self-awareness and growth.

My greatest passion in life (outside my beautiful family) is movement and creativity. Movement inside the body and the mysterious felt sensations that arise through the body, which have a story waiting to be heard, felt and seen. I see the beauty in the poetic nature of the mind and the emotions that arise in us all.

What I honour most about creating explorative and therapeutic spaces is the possibility for deeper connection that invites freedom of expression and navigate individuals to come home to the heart. My experience as a yoga teacher and therapist has shown me how crucial it is to have an environment that encourages trust, curiosity, creativity, compassion, and respect of personal boundaries.

As an accredited Transpersonal Art Therapist, Counseller, Yoga Teacher and Reiki Practitioner, I am inspired to use a range of Expressive Art-Therapy Modalities, including embodied-somatic movement, mindfulness and ACT Therapy as a way to empower and offer life-enhancing tools to create self-awareness and growth. I have a person-centred approach and use a range of modalities to support the therapy session, making each session unique to the individual's needs.

A Little History:

My work began in Australian where I studied Transpersonal Art Therapy and Counselling. From there I began my work within mental health care, focusing on areas in trauma, drug and alcohol addiction in rehab clinics, and I worked closely with troubled young teens and adults in school settings in my private business called BE~Therapy. After a few years working in mental health in Melbourne, my path dramatically changed and I moved to Sweden. It was love. The journey in Sweden was fruitful with two beautiful additions to our family and a deep journey into studying Yoga, embodiment, somatic-experiencing as well as trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness.

My time in Sweden allowed me to deep dive into the somatic world of the mind~body, which is where I saw an opening of blending yoga, embodied movement and art therapy as if they were an orchestra playing together. This opening and insight brought me to a place of combining two different ‘art’ forms with a therapeutic perspective for healing and growth. Thus creating my workshop, ‘The Art Of Creative Expression.’

I feel blessed to be able to working with a mind body approach and have the right tools to connect to the emotional, physical, subtle and energetic body.

What is Art Therapy?

‘The therapeutic process of creating art for self expression is where all the magic happens.’

Art therapy is defined in many ways throughout the world. It is based on current and emerging research that art making is a health-enhancing practice that positively impacts the quality of life.

The British Associations of Art Therapists defines art therapy as "a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication.” Other Associations define as: "an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship."

Art therapy is founded on the belief that self-expression through artistic creation has therapeutic value for those who are seeking deeper understanding of themselves and their personalities. 

ART THERAPY can be a tool for communication and connection – a way to express thoughts and emotions too difficult to put into words. It focuses on expressing emotions through either; art, images, colours, shapes, body awareness, play, story-telling, creative writing, movement, sounds, breath work and meditation. Art therapists use these art processes with clients as a tool for gathering information and assisting clients in treatment, self-exploration, development growth, integration, and healing.

My experiences as a therapist have shown me the therapeutic process of creating art for self expression is where all the magic happens: feeling, sensing, moving and shifting through your own stages as you go through the process. Rather than putting pressure on yourself to create a final product.

While working in the field of trauma and addiction I have seen firsthand how Art/Expressive Therapy Therapy adds to the holistic approach in aiding recovery, allowing clients to process what is needed, developing mental flexibility and compassion, in order to move forward in life.

What has so far stood out the most during this time working as a Therapist, was the vital role imagination and creativity played in the restoration of the self, as clients and individuals were able to imagine new narratives for themselves.

This guided therapeutic process encourages exploration, discovery and growth from personal experiences. In art therapy drawing or art skills are not needed, just a willingness to be open to explore.

Joanne’s experience as a yoga teacher and therapist has shown her how crucial it is to have an environment that fosters trust, compassion, openness and respect for personal boundaries. She loves creating space for deeper connections that encourages freedom of expression and invites individuals to come home to the heart. Her classes are an opportunity to explore the inner landscape of the body through embodied and explorative yoga, somatic movement, and finding ones authentic flow. She loves to incorporate; dynamic and mindful sequencing, pranayama, visualisation, meditation, self inquiry, touch, tantrik philosophy, inspiring soundscape and elemental work to keep her classes fruitful.

“Yoga is the container that holds me and allows me to find my way in life. Each time I practice, it gives me a feeling of always coming home to myself. Through movement, stillness, self-inquiry, listening and my breath, I find my freedom and my own expression. I feel present in myself and in my body. And when I add free embodied movement into my practise I always feel awakened! Alive! Something shifts within and I understand myself better. For me it is a doorway my heart.”

Joanne is a Qualified Transpersonal Art Therapist, Holistic Counseller, Yoga Teacher and Reiki Practitioner. She has completed 200hrs in Authentic Flow Yoga, 200hrs Dynamic Spiral Myofascial Yin Yoga, trained in Trauma Informed Yoga & Mindfulness. She is currently studying ACT Therapy to highlight scientific methods to help bring more compassion and acceptance methods to bring harmony and connection into people’s lives.

She continues to explores many embodied immersions and teachings from inspirational teachers from around the world. Joanne is passionate, nurturing and all heart.

Authentic Flow is an intuitive, embodied and explorative yoga and somatics practice with some or all of these tools included: asana, authentic movement, unique soundscape, mantra, pranayama, touch, creative sequencing, self exploration, Tantrik philosophy and elemental work. 
 
These explorations provide a technology for a deep sense of ease, strength and connectivity in the human form.

The healing touch of intention

Welcome to the world of Reiki. I am committed and inspired to use reiki - for anyone who wishes to explore the essence of healing, to find support within their bodies and to embark on a journey of self growth. As a qualified Holistic Counseller and Art Therapist I use a combination of therapeutic practices along with reiki to create a a safe environment, in order to allow the body-mind to feel balanced and restore.

My reiki journey started in 2007 after being trained in the Japanese Usui ~ reiki in Australia. I have been practising for over 15 years alongside other holistic practises that aid in integrated wellness and mental health. The only way I can really explain reiki, is for us to step outside the mind and allow the treatment to be experienced and felt.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word that can be translated as either “spiritual, sacred energy” or “universal energy”. It is a holistic healing modality and a non intrusive hands-on healing method that helps to realign and bring the body into a natural state of balance physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

This energy that is activated during treatment can be often called ‘prana’ in India, or ‘chi’ in China, or ‘life force’ in English. Life force energy is in everything that is made in this universe, it is an innate intelligence within our body that keeps everything balanced; It is the intelligence that spontaneously heals a wound on your body.

Reiki, as a method, allows us to use this universal energy to facilitate healing in ourselves and other people. It can be used in conjunction with other therapies or on its own. Reiki can be used on anyone and in any situation. It works with the body's natural healing processes and replenishes the energy supply - a method with many uses in our modern society.
