What a crazy Sunday! A year later the most amazing thing happened, watch my video below to find out more!

Top 5 MUSKIE Lures I use

If I could only bring 5 Muskie Lures with me...

Sometimes space is limited on our kayaks and boats, or we're not heading out with muskies as our primary target. Let's be honest—muskie lures aren't exactly small, and they can take up a lot of room in your tackle storage.
That's why I always keep a handful of versatile, muskie-catching baits with me no matter what species I'm chasing. These lures don't require a dedicated muskie box, but they still have what it takes to fool a toothy shovelhead when the opportunity presents itself.
So, here are my Top 5 Favorite Lures to Always Have on Hand for Catching a Muskie

Mepps #5 Agila Spinner

This is always a must-have in my tackle box 😃
This color flat-out catches fish. It's been one of my most productive patterns over the years and has earned a permanent spot in my lineup. When I need a bait I can trust, this one always gets the job done.

The Medusa by Chaos tackle!

This is a very productive lure! You can fish it with a straight retrieve, work it like a jerkbait, or even use it for trolling. It’s a versatile option that consistently gets the job done. They also come in a variety of sizes. For the lake I fish, I recommend either the Micro or the Mini.

XPS Swerve Glide bait/Swim Bait

Another favorite of mine! These are technically bass lures, but they do incredible for Muskie as well! You can make some changes and put different hooks on if thats your preference, but so far i haven't had a single issue with the hooks! It is also a very affordable glide/swim bait to add into your collection as well! There are many different options to choose from and 2 different sizes.

The Original Z man Chatterbait

This bait right here is an absolute confidence bait for me! 🎣
I’ve got a bunch of different brands of bladed jigs in my tackle box, but my OG Fire Craw 1/2 oz ChatterBait holds a special place. It’s the bait that helped me land my new PB muskie at 43 inches last summer!
No matter where I’m fishing or what other lures I bring, this is ONE bait that will always have a spot in my tackle box when I’m chasing muskies. 😃

Big City Slasher Spinning Bait

The Bleeding Shad color is one of my personal favorites, especially when I'm targeting muskies! This pattern has also been a great producer for pike. One thing I really like is that it's available in a bladed jig version too, and they even make matching trailers to complete the setup.

My Top Picks for Managing Poison Ivy

The top 4 things that helped me manage with my poison ivy!

We all know the most infamous and uncomfortable plant to run into while hiking, fishing, hunting, doing yard work, cutting trees, or digging out shrubs is in full force this time of year and will be right into the fall.
A lot of us like to think we're bulletproof if we've never reacted to it before... until we finally do!
Needless to say, I always swore I was immune to it and that I could "roll in a field of it and come out clean." Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, that wasn't the case.
Well... after dealing with it firsthand, I found a few things that made managing it much easier and a lot more comfortable.
Check out the four things below that helped me handle it at home instead of wasting my day at OFS, sitting in a doctor's office waiting longer to see a doctor than it takes to get treated!

Tecnu Extreme Poison Ivy & Poison Oak Scrub

this IMMEDIATELY after exposure—it can make a huge difference!
I used this multiple times a day to help clean my poison ivy, dry it out, and promote healing.
✅ Wet the affected area with cool water.
✅ Gently scrub the area where the poison ivy is located for 15 seconds.
⚠️ Do not break open the skin or use on open blisters.
✅ Rinse with lukewarm water.
✅ Repeat as often as needed.
This helped make my poison ivy much more manageable while it healed!
Also, if you have an HSA or FSA card/account, you may be able to use it to purchase this. 🤗
Note: If symptoms are severe, spreading rapidly, or involve the face, eyes, or breathing issues, it's a good idea to contact a healthcare professional.

Ivarest Poison Ivy Itch Relief Cream

used this multiple times a day whenever my poison ivy started bothering me. It helped relieve the itch and seemed to help the rash start healing. I would apply a generous amount to my legs, not fully rub it in, and leave it on throughout the day. It worked great for me and definitely helped! I highly recommend this lotion. Also, if you have an HSA or FSA card/account, you can use it to purchase this product!

Walgreens Extra Strength Anti-Itch Cream, 1.0 oz

used this product heavily throughout the day, especially at night! It helped reduce the itching from my poison ivy and provided lasting relief. When the itching was at its worst, I would apply a generous amount to my legs to help it last for most of the day. It definitely made a difference for me! Also, this product is eligible for purchase with HSA and FSA cards 😁

Clear Proof® Blemish Control Toner** mary kay

This product right here always helps dry up any random acne breakouts I get, and it works incredibly fast! I decided to give it a try on my poison ivy as well, and it helped dry it out much quicker than I expected. It may not work the same for everyone, but it definitely helped me. Just be careful not to use it too often—it can majorly dry out your skin.

Changing up the scenery

I was getting tired of the same 3 state parks im close to, the hennepin canal.. so decided to expand my horizons and adventure to a part of my favorite place... the trails! It seemed very weird not launching my kayak or the boat to go out and fish. We been having a weird June here in illinois, lots of wind which makes the conditons rough to fish from the kayak, so I decided why not take a hike and check out a new trail!
