Lip Blush

FAQ

How do I book a lip blush appointment?

Click the book now button on my socials or on this website down the bottom of page 1.

How long will my appointment take?

Appointment 1 - between 2-3 hours
Touch up - approx 1.5 hours
Colour refresh - depends how faded approx 2 hours

What is lip blush?

Lip blush is a semi permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure which enhances the beauty of the natural lip by improving colour, shape and definition by depositing pigment into the lip with a tattoo machine and needles. Depending on each clients ideal final results we can achieve a natural lip tint look once healed or for fuller coverage we can achieve a more lipstick look which may require additional appointments.

How long does it last?

Every lip is different and it depends on your health, skin, aftercare, if you come in for your touch up or colour refreshes, you can expect the tattoo to last between 2-5 years.
Here are a few factors which can cause your lip blush to fade faster:
- sun exposure
- oily skin
- exfoliant
- smoking

Does it hurt?

You may be a little uncomfortable at the start and very end of treatment but totally manageable as numbing is used.

What can I expect with a lip blush?

- there can be moderate swelling some more than others which generally subsides the same day but can also take up to a few days
- during the initial healing period there may be mild flaking/scabbing do not pick the scab it will come off on its own
- expect the colour to fade approx 60% some more or less after your first session once healed
- colour may appear uneven at different stages of the healing process, please be patient as this is a process until the 2-3 week mark post treatment
- your lips will feel extremely dry for the first week, please keep up your after care not allowing the lips to dry out

I have dark/cool toned lips can I get a lip blush?

Yes you can for melanin rich and hyperpigmented lips a neutralisation colour correction is required first which
we may achieve after one or multiple sessions depending on the intensity of the lip tone. Some people are happy once the lips have been neutralised to an even neutral colour all over and some people once the neutralisation has been completed like to add a pop of colour. For ALL melanin rich and hyperpigmented lips a consultation is required before a booking can be confirmed.

I have filler in my lips can I still book a lip blush?

Yes yes yes! Please make sure lip blush and lip fuller appointments are at least 3 weeks apart.

I have had a cold sore before can I still book in for a lip blush tattoo?

Yes you can, please take the below information very serious and refer to the pre care for cosmetic tattooing on my webpage for a more detailed description.

We will not be able to tattoo over any active or healing cold sores, you must consult your doctor prior to your appointment for your antiviral medication as this treatment can trigger an outbreak if you carry the herpes simplex virus. Please note that a cold sore outbreak can alter the healed results of a lip blush tattoo.

Brow Lamination & Hybrid Tint

FAQ

How do I book a brow lamination, hybrid brow dye or wax?

Click the book now button on my socials or on this website down the bottom of page 1

How long will my appointment take?

Click book now to see all services which indicates how long each treatment will take.

What is brow lamination and how often can I get it?

Eyebrow lamination is the latest and most exciting treatment to hit the beauty industry, it is a procedure that focus on creating shiny smooth brows. It involves straightening of the brow hairs using a chemical solution which allows you to brush and manipulate the hairs in a new direction giving them a more full and fluffy look. Brow lamination lasts approx 4 weeks with a 8 week minimum between each lamination appointment.

What is hybrid brow dye and how often can I get it?

I use bronsun brow dye here at blushed it has the most long lasting effect lasting on the skin for approx 7 days giving your brows an ombre effect and lasting on the brow hair up to 7 weeks! If you are wanting the “full brow look” with out tattooing I would recommend keeping your hybrid tinting up every 3 weeks how ever if you are after just the natural brow hairs to remain coloured appointments can be managed every 6-7 weeks.

Eyebrow waxing and how often can I get this?

There is no real rule with this one, it’s up to you and how often you would like to have your brow tidy up maintained.

I have no or very minimal brow hair can I still book a brow lamination and hybrid brow dye?

I would recommend in cases with no hair or very minimal to look at my cosmetic tattooing service I believe you will be more satisfied with this outcome. If you really do not want to commit to cosmetic tattooing just yet I would recommend the hybrid brow dye only.

Pre Care for Cosmetic Tattooing

Avoid any blood thinner medication such as aspirin, fish oil etc as they can affect the results of your treatment, the longer you can abstain from taking these the better the results (minimum 1 week)

No coffee prior to your appointment the day of the procedure.

Botox or cosmetic fillers should not be done three weeks either side of your appointment.

No alcohol for 48 hours prior to tattoo procedure as this could cause excess bleeding.

Please avoid any lipsticks for the week leading up to your lip blush appointment as they tend to dry the lips, keep them moist with a nourishing lip balm instead.

Please stay very hydrated drinking your daily recommended water intake 8-10 glasses a day.

Please be very careful to not get the area sunburnt for your appointment as we will not be able to tattoo any irritated brows or lips.

I will not perform cosmetic tattooing on anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to bring along your favourite lip stick colours or pictures for reference if you have a desired colour in mind.

COLD SORES with lip blush - We will not be able to tattoo over any active or healing cold sores, if you are prone to cold sores even if it was only one time ten years ago you must take a preventative. Please consult your doctor for treatment and begin treatment as directed prior to your appointment. This is very important and should be taken very seriously. Just to make cold sores and lip blushing a little clearer the procedure itself cannot give you the cold sore virus, The virus itself is a highly contagious virus that remains dormant most of the time living in your nerve cells, but if a trigger activates the virus, a cold sore can develop. Trauma to the lips such as a tattoo for instance would be the trigger I am referring to. One person may have just one outbreak and no recurrence, while others may have two or three outbreaks each year. Some people may carry the virus and never have an outbreak because it remains dormant. I repeat please contact your doctor for treatment to prevent an outbreak.

To prepare your lips for your lip blush procedure I recommend the below scrub for 5 days every day leading up to your lip blush appointment

Lip Blush at home pre-treatment recommend

1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of organic honey, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (coarse), 1/2 tablespoon of lukewarm water

Mix together, apply scrub to lips (use circular motion for 2-3 minutes), rinse lips with warm water.

After Care for Cosmetic Tattoos

Avoid sun and UV rays especially during the healing phase, exposure to sun and UV rays will cause the tattoo to fade, once healed be sure to look after your tattooed area with your normal sunscreen routine.

Avoid activities that will cause sweating for a few days post procedure.

No cleansers (other than the aftercare cleanse I provide to you on your fresh tattooed area) no exfoliants, make up, swimming, spas, steam rooms or direct contact with the area until healing has finished. Do not pick, peel, scratch the healing tattoo as it can cause uneven colour and infection. The healing process typically takes 7-10 days for brows and 5-7 days for lips.

If you are planning chemical peel, laser treatment or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had cosmetic tattoo. They must avoid the tattooed area.

During the healing time the colour will look more intense. The true colour of your newly tattooed make up will appear at the 3 week mark. The tattoo can seem a little patchy within this 3 weeks please be patient with the process. For some clients it will be perfect after the first procedure, for others it may be too light or become patchy in some areas. Don't worry - we will perfect the look when you come in for your scheduled touch up appointment in 4-8 weeks' time.

For brows, morning and night apply a small pea sized amount of cleanser provided to you with a small amount of water to your fresh tattooed brows very gently cleaning the area, pat dry (do not be aggressive with this step) once brows have been pat dry apply aftercare ointment provided to you for 7-10 days with a clean cotton tip. You can apply the aftercare ointment through out the day if your brows feel dry and itchy.

After Care for Lip Blush -

Immediately after lip blush treatment lips can be slightly swollen and tender this is completely normal and part of the process. You can always ice your lips careful after the treatment if you feel it is necessary (most clients quite like that extra lip plump post treatment but unfortunately it doesn't last long subsiding after a few hours or the following day)

Apply your Lip aftercare more regularly for 5 days, you DO NOT want your lips to dry out this could cause extra scabbing and tenderness. If your lips feel dry apply more ointment provided to you with a clean cotton tip.

For Lip blush the colour is intense for the first few days, be prepared to lose approx. 50 - 70% after the first appointment as Lip Blush does not replace a "lipstick look" it's more to give it a pop of colour, however if your desired end result is to have more coverage and more of a lip stick look we can achieve this with multiple appointments. Please discuss your expectations with me.

Post Lip blush your lips may still be quite numb for a few hours, avoid any hot or spicy foods as you do not want to burn your mouth.

Drink plenty of water and through a straw (Remain Hydrated)

No kissing while the lips are healing (remember your lips have just been tattooed and is an open healing wound)

Avoid cigarette smoking for 72 hours post treatment. Smoking will affect colour because lips have no glands the tar sits on the top of the lips and discolours them, tattooing over the lips creates little punctures on the surface, the smoke enters those areas and can discolour the pigment or even worse cause an infection.

If you carry the cold sore virus please refer to the pre-treatment for lip blush this is very important and should be taken very seriously to reduce any discomfort.

Please contact the studio if you have any questions or concerns.
