What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a semi permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure which enhances the beauty of the natural lip by improving colour, shape and definition by depositing pigment into the lip with a tattoo machine and needles. Depending on each clients ideal final results we can achieve a natural lip tint look once healed or for fuller coverage we can achieve a more lipstick look which may require additional appointments.
How long does it last?
Every lip is different and it depends on your health, skin, aftercare, if you come in for your touch up or colour refreshes, you can expect the tattoo to last between 2-5 years.
Here are a few factors which can cause your lip blush to fade faster:
- sun exposure
- oily skin
- exfoliant
- smoking
Does it hurt?
You may be a little uncomfortable at the start and very end of treatment but totally manageable as numbing is used.
What can I expect with a lip blush?
- there can be moderate swelling some more than others which generally subsides the same day but can also take up to a few days
- during the initial healing period there may be mild flaking/scabbing do not pick the scab it will come off on its own
- expect the colour to fade approx 60% some more or less after your first session once healed
- colour may appear uneven at different stages of the healing process, please be patient as this is a process until the 2-3 week mark post treatment
- your lips will feel extremely dry for the first week, please keep up your after care not allowing the lips to dry out
I have dark/cool toned lips can I get a lip blush?
Yes you can for melanin rich and hyperpigmented lips a neutralisation colour correction is required first which
we may achieve after one or multiple sessions depending on the intensity of the lip tone. Some people are happy once the lips have been neutralised to an even neutral colour all over and some people once the neutralisation has been completed like to add a pop of colour. For ALL melanin rich and hyperpigmented lips a consultation is required before a booking can be confirmed.
I have filler in my lips can I still book a lip blush?
Yes yes yes! Please make sure lip blush and lip fuller appointments are at least 3 weeks apart.
I have had a cold sore before can I still book in for a lip blush tattoo?
Yes you can, please take the below information very serious and refer to the pre care for cosmetic tattooing on my webpage for a more detailed description.
We will not be able to tattoo over any active or healing cold sores, you must consult your doctor prior to your appointment for your antiviral medication as this treatment can trigger an outbreak if you carry the herpes simplex virus. Please note that a cold sore outbreak can alter the healed results of a lip blush tattoo.
