Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle yet powerful light touch body therapy that supports health and wellness.
It treats a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

The body's Craniosacral System includes the fluid and membrane that surround the brain and spinal cord. These membranes consist of fascia (connective tissue) which surround and connect every tissue and organ in the body.
Imbalances and restrictions in the Craniosacral System can affect the structure and function of any of the body's systems which often leads to pain dysfunction and dis-ease

When restrictions within the body's tissues are gently released and the energy required to hold them in place is freed up pain tends to loosen it's grip.
A follow on effect from this is often increased vitality levels and a higher level of tolerance for the stresses of day to day living.

BCST also supports optimal functioning of the nervous system which is inextricably intertwined with all aspects of health and wellness..

About Brendan

The path that led me to Craniosacral Therapy is made up of quite a mix of experiences.
I trained and I worked for most of my professional career in plumbing. In 2004 I set up and managed my own busy and successful plumbing business which employed four employees at its peak.

Although the business was going strong I always had a sense that something did not feel right within me. I felt like I had ticked all the boxes to achieve what I had imagined success to be but I certainly didn't feel successful.

In 2006 after the death of my sister and only sibling this sense of unease grew bigger. I pushed on and continued plumbing until 2012 when I decided change was needed and I left plumbing and construction industry.

Thinking a break from construction would ease the burden I went on to work for a company which supplied high grade metal products to the medical industry. In 2016 however after reaching a near crisis point I decided to leave.
I knew at this point that taking time for myself to re-evaluate my values, and my life direction, and to create space for healing, would need to be my priorities

Over the coming years I travelled, mainly in Spain, and I went on a journey of healing and transformation. I travelled, volunteered, worked, and had the opportunity to sample an array of different type lifestyles, holistic practices, holistic therapies, plant medicines and retreat centres.

Later I would live and work at a beautiful Retrest centre in the south of Spain working in a maintaince role while also practicing and learning Craniosacral therapy there during my training.

I immersed myself in nature and slowed my life down as much as possible.
I discovered that slowing down usually means feeling more and that was challenging sometimes as quite often is the nature of the healing journey.
I did however feel supported by my peers and the holistic practices I was surrounded by and I could feel I was reaping the rewards in the longer term.

I began feeling more grounded and more connected and my relationship with my body changed from a more hostile one to a more compassionate one.
My body was supporting me to heal and to feel healthier and more at ease and I was grateful to have it as a trusted ally for the first time. I was also becoming more clear on my values and what really mattered to me.

During my travels I had the pleasure of meeting, working with, and befriending some inspiring people who taught me alot about health, wellness and about living more simply and sustainably.

The most inspiring part for me was the levels of trust and respect I experienced between people at the retreat centre. People encouraged and empowered each other.
It was an environment that fostered healthier, happier, stronger, and more creative people. It was an eye opener for me to be living and experiencing ways of living that I had not experienced before.

Personal growth was supported and encouraged and practices such as yoga and meditation were common. People wanted to develop themselves and I did too

As I researched and contemplated a new career path that would align with my interests and my values, I was led to and discovered Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. I had taken an introduction to Craniosacral therapy course a few years earlier and I had also recieved some cranio sessions which had a big positive impact on me, so I was aware of the power of the therapy.

I decided to do a two year diploma training in BCST with the organisation Body Intelligence in 2018. The training was fantastic and led me on yet another journey with a wonderful group of fellow students and facilitators.
The course deepened my knowledge and understanding of myself and of the Anatomy and Physiology of the body. I learnt more about the body's tremendous potential to heal and to transform and ways of working with the body to optimise this process

I decided to moved home to Mayo at the end of 2020 and I opened Cranio Clinics in Westport and Castlebar in 2021.
Facilitating BCST sessions and witnessing a clients journey, often out of pain, tension, or distress and into softer, more fluid body states that foster health and resilience is a joy to witness.
I learn something new from every client and i hope that they too learn something new about themselves, and about the immense potential for healing and transformation that lies in each and everyone of us

Would really recommend Brendan as a Craniosacral Therapist. First session with Brendan for chronic back pain resulted in pain easing and disappearing fully. Brendan has lovely energy and provides a beautiful healing space.

Mary Murphy

This was my first experience with Craniosacral Therapy and I found it really beneficial. Brendan was so professional and engaging throughout the process. I got great relief from my sessions and would definitely recommend it.

Brendan put me at ease at the beginning of my first session. I followed through with 2 more sessions as my body required it. He was able to identify burnout / exhaustion and was told of my covid symptoms that I had experienced. I felt much better as I progressed through each session. I was tired after it but listened to my body and getting out and about with day to day activities. I would recommend brendan for this therapy treatment he provides
