Our philosophy is simplicity and quality, authenticity and big flavours, in a fun, convivial environment. We have a vibrant
bar for a casual glass of wine or a perfect Negroni and a cosy restaurant with a menu full of Florentine classics.

Like many of our favourite trattorias in Florence we do not serve fish but we do have some vegetarian and vegan options.

Reservation note:

Bookings open at 9am every morning for fourteen days advance

Last tables through the door 9:45pm.
We require credit card details for reservations to protect against no-shows and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice. The charge is £25 per guest.

We are able to accept bookings for up to to SIX guests only. We do not split groups across multiple tables and we do not join tables together.
We do not offer space for group bookings or have any private hire options

Dogs

We have a house
bulldog named Bailey.
Bailey is the undisputed queen of Brutto but all well behaved dogs are welcome. Bring us a photo of your pooch when you visit together and we’ll add them to our gallery wall (Bailey’s approval pending).

Our signature dish

We get our 30 day dry-aged loins from Longcroft & Old in Smithfield Market. 10-12 kilos in weight they often come into the restaurant on the shoulders of white-coated meat market butchers, and sometimes we carry them ourselves. They take up to one hour to prepare for each loin and we get up to 12 T-bones per cut. We chalk up as many as we can prepare on the blackboard every day, but when they are gone, they are gone. Many people ask why we don’t prepare more, but the simple answer is that we offer as many as we are able to every day. More often than not, they don’t sell out, but sometimes they do. We can never predict demand. Best to order on arrival to avoid disappointment…

We play music…

Brutto is not a silent restaurant. We play an eclectic mix of pop, rock, soul, jazz, blues, electronica and lots of Prince. Combined with the buzz of lively conversation, it is often considered loud for some, but exactly how we like it.

It was always part of our philosophy to create a fun environment, somewhere between a bar, restaurant and nightclub.

If you like a quieter restaurant serving excellent Italian regional cooking, we highly recommend Ida, Campania, Luca,, Bocca di Lupo, Ciao Bella, Trullo, The River Cafe,and many more too.
