Reminder of the day

Sit back, relax, meditate and focus on YOU

It’s important to not let external circumstances affect what you are feeling. You can’t (entirely) control what happens around you, but you CAN control how you respond to it. It’s important to know and understand yourself so that no matter what’s going on in the world, you understand that your reaction to it is still your decision, your emotions towards it are yours to feel. That your value does not decrease just because someone else doesn’t see it. Make the right decision. Choose your own peace first.

Perspectives that could change your view on the world

Mindfulness is so important to implement to our daily life. It can be a challenge sometimes. Mindfulness is a way of seeing, being and being open to the here and the now. Because of the busyness in our lives we sometimes forget to stand still and appreciate all the wonders in our world, and in our own life too. Mindfulness isn’t difficult, we just need to remember to do it. So here are 5 mindfulness quotes to help you a bit.

James Baraz

“Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t).”

Buddha

“Our life is shaped by our mind, for we become what we think.”

Allan Lokos

“Don’t believe everything you think. Thoughts are just that - thoughts.”

Oprah Winfrey

“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.”

Buddha

“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”

Healthy living

What is healthy living?

"Healthy living" to most people means both physical and mental health are in balance or functioning well together in a person. In many instances, physical and mental health are closely linked, so that a change (good or bad) in one directly affects the other. That means emotional and mental health are just as important as your physical health. We just tend to pay less intention to it because the eye doesn’t always see it.

Sleep. Sleep is incredible important. People 18 years and older are advised to sleep between 7-9 hours per night. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, yoga and meditation can both help a lot. Easy way to start is by following you breath and following the stream of your breath going in and out your body. This will put your focus elsewhere and creates space between you and your thoughts.

Try something new! It is good for your brain to do something new or different from what you’re used to. Brush your teeth with your other hand, eat a new food, try a different route to work, etc.

Take a walk for a breath of fresh air, focus in what you see and hear, and try to entirely enjoy the moment.

Learn to say “no” to people if there’s something you do not want to do or not want to get involved in.

Let yourself be pleased with your achievements, both big and small!

Every morning and every night, right down 2 things you are grateful for.

Practice yoga to become aware of your body, practice meditation to become aware of your thoughts. It both creates needed connecting and space.
