It’s hard not to notice the impact that BLM movements had on the world in 2020, but police brutality
is an issue that stretches back long before the death of George Floyd. I remember watching footage from Ferguson and crying about about the unfairness and obvious racism that persists in societies in 2014, and it seems to only be getting worse.
Members of the Black community are less likely to receive mental health support, and often, there are misconceptions and a lack of understanding how best to help individuals escaping domestic abuse from within their community.

Since the pandemic started, hate crimes targeted towards Asian communities have increased significantly. In 2019 reported hate crimes were at an all time high, and personally I expect figures to be even higher for 2020.
Last month, an 84 year old died after being violently shoved to the ground, and even more elderly Asian people have been attacked including an 89 year old woman being set on fire.
in California, in March to May 2020, 800 COVID related hate incidents were reported. 800. In 3 months. That’s an increase of 1200%.
It’s likely a direct consequence of Trump referring to coronavirus as the “China virus”.
This is absolutely NOT okay, and more needs to be done to target this hate and prejudice towards Asian communities.
