HAPPY BODIES MOVE

There are many definitions for yoga; to see, to yoke, to come together, to unite, to tie the strands of the mind together, to understand, to attain what was previously unattainable, to be one with the divine, acting in such a way that all of our attention is directed toward the activity in which we are currently engaged. One of my favorite parts of yoga is, no matter where you are from or where you currently are, you can always create more space within the body, both physically and mentally. Allow your body to breathe, lengthen, release, and expand. I grew up at a wooden ballet barre and developed a fascination for the human body and its capacity and abilities. I quickly became absorbed in the power of movement. I learned that happy bodies move and that happy bodies live happy lives. My dance background gave me a foundational love for cultivating a healthy and happy body, something that yoga has grown and deepened in both my own personal practice and in the practice that I share with others. And as much as I loved growing up in a dance company, the physical demands from the time requirements and training have had major rippling effects on my body. As a freshman in college, I was in a car accident that left my body with torn up, knotted muscles and ligaments, spinal injuries, and a lifetime of trauma. In the process of my recovery, I decided that I wanted to spend my life helping others to have happy bodies and so I became a health science & kinesiology major and chose to deepen my education and understanding in yoga studies. Now, I find myself completely immersed and in love with these studies with four related degrees in hand. Regardless of the intensity, happy bodies move. And it is within that movement that we find a deeper and more clearer version of who we are. Meet your body where it is at and learn to flourish from there. Let’s move together 🖤
