Hello 👋🏻
I thought this would be a wonderful way to introduce myself and how Cards That Talk came to be.
My name is Angela and I’m a Provisionally registered psychologist. My passion for truly wanting to understand others is what drew me to this career path and to say that I’ve loved every moment would be an understatement!
Through my work, not only in the mental health space but also more broadly, it became apparent to me how important human connection is in maintaining our feelings of belonging, our sense of identity, and feeling loved and cared for.
Cards That Talk is aimed at increasing ‘off-screen’ social connection and shifting our mindsets to look for the more positive aspects of life. The rise in positive psychology and gratitude practices also had a huge impact on what I included in this deck.
In creating these cards, I envisioned families sitting around their dinner table engaged in rich conversations, couples consciously taking time out of their day to connect with one another, educators using the cards to set the class’ focus for the day, and mental health professionals using them to get to know their patients better.
I have big hopes for these cards, with one of them being that they are the vessel with which we can reignite love, connection and compassion toward one another. I hope you love them as much as I do!
