Central American Disruption

Disrupting Systems and Narratives

Founded as The CentAm Collective in 2019, Central American Disruption provides radical education about Central America and the significance of transnational solidarity in the fight against capitalism, colonization, racism, transphobia, and other systems of oppression while creating a space that centers Central American perspectives and experiences—the latter a rarity.

Sussan García is the founder of and director of Central American Disruption. I am the daughter of two displaced Guatemalans, born and raised in Canarsee land (Queens, New York City). In CAD, I hope to embody the literal meaning of Central American Disruption vis-a-vis oppressive structures of power, including the ones that led to my family’s migration and denied me the right of growing up on my ancestral lands, as well as provide our diaspora with some of the tools to embody it themselves as we navigate our lives in the Global North and combat the racist and xenophobic disinformation we grew up hearing about ourselves and our lands.
