About me

Writer, Bookseller, Interviewer

Hello there 👋🏼

My name is Charlotte and I’m a writer, bookseller and facilitator based on Wathaurong Country in Geelong, Victoria.

My writing has been published in journals such as Griffith Review, Island Magazine, Westerly, Overland, Write or Die Magazine, and Kill Your Darlings, and The Guardian and Weekend Australian newspapers. My short fiction has been shortlisted in the Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction and the Peter Carey Short Story Prize. In 2023 I received my PhD in Creative Writing from Deakin University and am currently working on my first novel.

This year, I was lucky enough to be shortlisted for the 2024 Bookseller of the Year Award, administered by the national body for booksellers, BookPeople.

In 2025 I’ll be undertaking a fellowship residency at Varuna: The Writers House in the Blue Mountains to complete my manuscript, ‘The Kookaburra.’

I love hosting in-conversation events with authors and am a regular interviewer at The KO Creative Studio, the Geelong Library, and writers festivals in the region. ENDORSEMENT QUOTES

Anna Funder, author of ‘Wifedom’, ‘All That I Am,’ and ‘Stasiland’

"Charlotte Guest is a terrific interviewer and in-conversation partner. I was immediately at ease with her in front of a crowd because it was so clear that she had read WIFEDOM very well, and had prepared deeply insightful questions that would take us through the text, and through the ideas in it. This is a great gift, and not a common one: the art of the intelligent, open question that leads a speaker (and an audience) through a book. Charlotte also has a talent for listening, and crafting further questions on the fly - again, a gift. I would utterly recommend her to any festival or event organiser as an interview partner."

Charlotte Wood, author of ‘Stone Yard Devotional,’ ‘The Weekend,’ and ‘The Natural Way of Things.’

"Charlotte is the most astute and sophisticated interviewer, really one of the best and most thoughtful conversations I've ever had. Authors, you need to do events with Charlotte and The KO."
