I’m China Dukes and I’m a free-lance hair artist/ Handtied Extension Specialist and National Color Educator/ Platform artist that specializes in dimensional color and extensions. I am an independent hairstylist at Salon Hex located in Chicago, Illinois. What does independent hairstylist mean? It means I run everything that I do behind my chair, client communication, hair appointments, product ordering, payment processing, etc. I do this to have total creative freedom and to be my own boss ❤️

I love all things that allow me to creative. Taking pictures of my clients hair, creating videos, clothing and hair. It’s so expressive and I live for it! I am an avid believer in work/life balance because it allows me time and space to come up with my best creations!

Dimensional color and extensions are my heartbeat, the tediousness of them both make my world go ‘round. I absolutely live for a challenge, so show me what you want and let’s set up a game plan! I’m a creative and a nerd who respects the science of hair so as much as I love throwing around some paint, we need to set up some foundations with proper products for home maintenance. I can’t do all the heavy lifting, it’s a team effort, so routine appointments and at-home product regimens are a must!

My main objective behind the chair is for you to feel beautiful and confident and to make you feel comfortable communicating with me your hair goals, likes and dislikes.

•Trust. The. Process. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Extensions, Color corrections, transformations, they all take time and monetary investments. Know that you are in the hands of someone who truly cares!

•Responsible, reliable, patient and consistent. I typically book a full month out and my appointments run any where from 3-6 hours depending on the service and employ assistants full time to work with me, so last minute rescheduling doesn’t work within my business structure, I require 72 hour minimum cancellation policy for all services to avoid penalty fees. All rescheduling is done through online booking.
