Recommendation #9 Stealing Fire by Steven Kotler and Jamie Wheal

It’s the biggest revolution you’ve never heard of, and it’s hiding in plain sight. Over the past decade, Silicon Valley executives like Eric Schmidt and Elon Musk, Special Operators like the Navy SEALs and the Green Berets, and maverick scientists like Sasha Shulgin and Amy Cuddy have turned everything we thought we knew about high performance upside down. Instead of grit, better habits, or 10,000 hours, these trailblazers have found a surprising short cut. They''re harnessing rare and controversial states of consciousness to solve critical challenges and outperform the competition.
New York Times bestselling author Steven Kotler and high performance expert Jamie Wheal spent four years investigating the leading edges of this revolution—from the home of SEAL Team Six to the Googleplex, the Burning Man festival, Richard Branson’s Necker Island, Red Bull’s training center, Nike’s innovation team, and the United Nations’ Headquarters. And what they learned was stunning: In their own ways, with differing languages, techniques, and applications, every one of these groups has been quietly seeking the same thing: the boost in information and inspiration that altered states provide.
Today, this revolution is spreading to the mainstream, fueling a trillion dollar underground economy and forcing us to rethink how we can all lead richer, more productive, more satisfying lives. Driven by four accelerating forces—psychology, neurobiology, technology and pharmacology—we are gaining access to and insights about some of the most contested and misunderstood terrain in history. Stealing Fire is a provocative examination of what’s actually possible; a guidebook for anyone who wants to radically upgrade their life.

Recommendation #10 Chasing Excellence by Ben Bergeron

A story about building the world’s fittest athletes.

Running Soothes My Soul

Running🙏🏼🤍

I have always been a runner but a sprinter. I ran track in elementary and high school, I ran the 50m, 100m and 400m relay!
Since then I’d pick up running now and again. I even ran a 5k race in 2017 and placed 14th out of almost 200 people 🙌🏼
Fast forward to 2020/2021…
Postpartum recovery was a little more challenging than I had ever anticipated or could have prepared for. So, when I could; I walked and walked ALOT! But, after a miscarriage mid-2021, I vowed to make myself fit and healthy and dedicate myself to my wellness journey. That included RUNNING🙌🏼🍃
Running has such a therapeutic effect, it has a beautiful way of soothing my wild mind, my anxiety and even some of my chronic body pain. I have been able to turn my need to run into one of my passions for running into a passion outdoor long distance running and running with my little🤍
While running outdoors started as something to try and see if I could manage doing, it quickly turned into a passion and a way for me to build a small group of other mother runners, athletes and workout buddies☺️🤍

Pulse

You’re the pulse of your Family

when you are depleted your entire family will be depleted - you are the pulse of your family start putting yourself first. take care of you. be selfish. you'll be doing your loved ones a favor by prioritizing you, filling your cup. happy/healthy you = happy/healthy family. Lead by example. imagine your children as adults, it would hurt you to see them running themselves into the ground. you are who they are learning from. no one wants a run down, burnt out spouse/ parent/sibling/child. take care of you, everyone will be happier for it🪽
