Catrine Primary School participating in tree planting project

In March of this year, the Cumnock Chronicle reported on the good work of pupils at Catrine Primary School, who are involved in a project called ‘Greening the Estate’, as part of a pilot with seven East Ayrshire schools.

“East Ayrshire school green gym project officer Lindsay was thrilled to be working with the Catrine PS pupils and their supportive staff to plant 150 trees as part of efforts by LOST (Learning Outdoors Support Team) to ensure schools become more green.

P5-7 pupils had a brilliant morning in the sunshine tree planting with Lindsay Twilley from TCV and Lorna Sloan from the John Muir Award.
The woodland created will become a resource that the whole school can enjoy.”

Local businesses donating flowers to Catrine Community Action Plan

Cotton Trail and Blooming Wonderful generously donated flowers for community planters, adding a splash of colour and happiness to the square this summer.

“Catrine Community Action plan said a massive thank you to Eddie and Liz from the Cotton Trail and Irene from Blooming Wonderful this week.

They kindly donated flowers for the community planters in the square.
The individuals then got to work planting them with the kind help of Jimmy.
Residents were quick to comment on the arrangement on social media, saying how lovely the flowers looked and how much they helped to brighten up the square.”
