Our makeup routine is about so much more than actually applying makeup—it’s about prepping your skin, too! Think of your skin as a blank canvas. It needs to be properly prepped before it can take on your beauty products or your skin’s natural oils and outside factors like rain and humidity can easily erase your work.
Keep reading for tips!

#1. Exfoliate
When dead skin cells build up on your skin’s surface, it can lead to clogged pores, dullness & uneven skin tone. It will give makeup an even base to grip onto. If you have dry skin, exfoliating will help remove dry patches that you may have and if you have oily skin, exfoliating will help remove excess dead skin cells which tends to clog pores.
#2. Eye Mask & Cream
If you’re looking to keep your under-eye area looking bright and for your concealer to last, eye prep is a must! It will help your concealer apply and blend out more smoothly. It will even help with the longevity of your makeup.
#3. Toner and Serum
Toners help restore the pH of your skin, provide an initial layer of hydration, and help your skin absorb your moisturizer completely. Depending on your skin type, using a serum is great to hydrate your skin and create a glowing base. If you run more oily-to-combination, you can use a serum to minimize your pores and to help control oils, which will also help with the longevity of your makeup.
#4. Make Sure You Moisturize
Applying moisturizer will help your foundation and concealer apply more seamlessly, help with the longevity of your makeup, and add a natural radiance under your foundation. It is very important to choose one that’s right for your skin type. If you have oily skin, I recommend using an oil-free or matte moisturizer. If you run more dry I recommend using a hydrating and nourishing moisturizer. I like to apply moisturizer with my hands and let it sit on the face for a couple of minutes before applying foundation or primer.
#5. Apply Primer
Primer is important, but I also find that if you prep your face properly you don’t need to use it. If someone has oily skin, I like using a gripping primer or an oil-controlling, pore filling primer on their T-zone. If someone is more on the drier side, or wanting a glowy, dewy makeup look I will use a hydrating, radiant primer all over the face.

Dermaplaning is a precise & professional treatment using a sharp sterile blade. When peach fuzz (vellus hairs) and dead skin cells are removed, skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin, allowing the ingredients to work better and makeup goes on smoother. Dermaplaning also diminishes the appearance of acne scars & fine lines and wrinkles.
✨FAQ✨
#1. Will My Hair Grow Back Darker & Thicker?
▫️No — this treatment doesn't change the thickness, color or rate of growth. It's biologically impossible for hair to grow back thicker/darker because of Dermaplaning. After removing the vellus hair, your skin will instantly feel and look smoother and brighter. The hair is so thin and soft that removing it with a blade will have little to no impact on how it looks when it grows back.
#2. Does Dermaplaning Cause Breakouts?
▫️Like most exfoliation techniques, dermaplaning prevents breakouts rather than causes them. While dermaplaning can’t be performed on skin with active acne, it will prevent clogged pores and pimples from forming. By removing the top layer of dead skin cells, dermaplaning prevents these cells from getting trapped inside your pores. Less dead skin = fewer breakouts. By gently exfoliating the skin, dermaplaning also makes it easier for acne treatments and serums to penetrate into the pores to prevent and treat breakouts.
#3. Does it hurt? Will it cause cuts?
▫️Dermaplaning is performed doing a gentle scraping motion across the skin’s surface and it is painless. There are risks of nicks on the skin, however they are small and very minor as the pressure used for Dermaplaning cannot cause a deep cut. These nicks heal within 24-48 hours.
#4. Am I a good candidate for Dermaplaning?
▫️If you'd like a brighter, healthier complexion, it's certainly worth trying! It's also safe if you're pregnant and longing for a beautiful glow without the chemicals. It is not recommended if you have active or cystic acne, thick or coarse facial hair, psoriasis or eczema on the face & neck area.
#1. What is tinting?
Brow tinting is the process of applying a semi-permanent dye to enhance, shape and define your brows. The dye is carefully applied in the direction of your hair growth and then a second layer is applied in the opposite direction so all the hairs are coated in dye. The colour is fully customized!
#2. How does tint work on our hair & skin?
Tinting only dyes the top layer of skin, so as your skin exfoliates away, so does the tint stain. This is what makes it temporary compared to a permanent ink tatoo.
#3. How long does tint last?
The results of a brow tint can typically last between 3-7days on the skin, and 3-5 weeks on the hair. It depends on your skin type. If your too oily, the tint may not stain as well. Try to avoid applying oil based products directly on your eyebrows or using harsh face washes that will lighten the tint more quickly. Don’t hit the beach or go swimming after eyebrow tinting. Just like hair dye, the quality of your color can be affected by sun exposure, saltwater and chlorine, so avoid these areas if you want to preserve your tint.
#4. How long does the appointment take?
When you get your eyebrows tinted, you can expect the service to take anywhere from 30-45 minutes. This ensures I have enough time to create your perfect shade, apply the dye, and let it set to achieve the desired effect.
Is a bridal makeup trial run really necessary⁉️🤔 👰♀️
>On one of the biggest days of your life, it’s important to try to avoid any hurdles that may occur and make sure that the day goes smoothly. You wouldn’t get married without a rehearsal or try your dress on only once, and it should be the same for your hair and makeup. Many brides think that a trial run is just a way for artists to try to make more money. In reality, it’s like a form of insurance for not only the bride but also the artist.
◾️5 reasons as to why my response to that question is always “YES!” ⬇️
1. It is the perfect opportunity to get to know your artist’s personality and their skill level, and to determine if they are the right fit for you. You want to be comfortable with them and make sure they create the perfect look for you!
2.I will always try to please the client but sometimes, the desired look is not always possible depending on your hair or skin type or face shape. A trial run is a good time to discuss your options and to try different looks that will work for you.
3. While most professional makeup artists try to work with mostly hypoallergenic products, it is possible that you may be allergic to an ingredient in a cosmetic. Your wedding day is definitely not the day you want to discover you are allergic to latex eyelash glue or a dye in eyeshadow. A trial run gives you the opportunity to test out not only the final look, but also the products used.
4. Wedding day schedules tend to be pretty tight, so knowing exactly what look is desired and how long it takes to perform can save a lot of valuable time.
5. It is also great opportunity to discuss any details such as the number of attendants and services, a timeline for the day, and recommendations from the artist.
A trial run is a very important and often underestimated part of the makeup process. It may mean you have to adjust your budget slightly, but I assure you that it will be well worth it! Every bride wants to feel beautiful and confident on her wedding day. By knowing exactly how the day will go and exactly how you will look, both you and your artist can be confident that you will look and feel your best!
