CRAIGMORE Company and system overview
This sprouting chamber is marketed under the name CRAIGMORE FEED. The system was technically and biologically improved and optimised to cost effectively produce large quantities of quality green feed for livestock in the shortest time cycle. The CRAIGMORE FEED system is an economical option that provides a farmer with his own constant green feed production for 365 days of the year without any problems due to season change during the year. This system takes the worries out of drought, frost, pests and weed control. This well isolated CRAIGMORE FEED container will deliver you a much better product than you are currently having for your livestock, all year round.

A predetermined quantity of barley seeds are spread out on special seed trays and then watered on predetermined intervals with an overhead sprinkler system, and climate controlled to the correct but constant temperature for the best optimal growth regardless of the climate outside .The system holds enough seed trays to ensure that the farmer has a constant and known amount of feed available daily.

Production starts with feed grade barley seeds that germinated within 24 hours of seeding. The seeds grow in the same trays for 6 to 7 days when they are just ready to harvest as a grass mat with a height of up to 130mm. The empty seed trays are then rinsed with clean water, sown again with a predetermined amount of seed and pushed in at the seeding end of the system. This practice enables the farmer to produce 600kg and even more per day in a well managed and maintained CRAIGMORE FEED system.

Nutritional Value
CRAIGMORE FEED has tested each growth stage for nutritional values, with the optimal nutritional value stage being day 6 when the sprouts are ready to be harvested. Several trials has proved that the sprouts consists of very high protein and energy values which is sufficient to fulfil the needs of most livestock. Horses
The quantity of feed required by a horse is determined by the size and the particular workload of the horse. By feeding barley sprouts, a total of 60% – 100% of their current diet can be replaced. Horses that require a very high starch nutrition can still use the normal feed that is currently given to them. For healthy digestion purposes, it is required that the horse gets a minimum of 1.5% of its body weight in dry feed.
