The first thing you need to realize before you begin your journey through art journaling is that your art is YOUR art. This means that you should not try to be creative when you want to make your art journal exactly like someone else’s art journal . You are unique and your art will be too no matter how hard you try to make it like someone else’s.
Step two is where to start. When you begin your art journal it can be very confusing as to where to begin. The first thing you need to do is gather your materials. These can be so many different things. You can buy things from a store, or you could get creative and use scraps of different kinds of papers you come across in everyday life. A few ideas of these are..... 1. Extra wrapping paper
2. Business cards you think look nice
3. Outdated planner dividers

Collaging is one of the most popular ways of decorating your art journal pages. Once you have gathered some materials you can begin to lay them out in a collage format! Tip: try to cover the whole page when collaging.

To have a journal page look put together you need to apply aesthetics to the page. This means staying in the same color range for the individual pages and use images that go together in color or use.
