We like to take apart pallets that are found in the trash. We make them into treasure. most of the time they are oak or red oak planks. They make the pallet, ship it around, and eventually it gets somewhere where they don't need the pallet . It gets put in the trash. They cut more trees to make more pallets so we reuse the wood instead and build for the future.
Not just pallets. Any old wooden structure can possibly be saved. if the wood is not rotten or infested we reuse it and decrease tree consumption.
