Life at our place

What can you expect for daily life at the hostel and the village

Food

- There is a fully functioning kitchen, you can cook your own meals
- The host family also prepares amazing food. (If you don’t mind adapting to the local palate) Yes there is enough vegetarian options
- There are quite a few home-stays nearby where you can order a delicious meal (again, local menu), for example Chandra aunty (listed below)

Temi, the village

- Although it is very off trail… it is very well developed. Good roads. The locals speak Hindi and English.
- There is a beautiful aesthetic local market at a short walking distance (<5 mins). Where you will find small eateries that have a basic menu, which obviously includes Momos. All essentials and groceries are available at shops here.

Utilities

- For laundry, there is a washing machine we can use, with some minimal charge.
- A cleaning lady comes regularly. The hostel stays neat and clean.
- The host family also has their own taxi, which you can book to be picked up or to go around!
- It is really well planned. There is even electric kettles to heat water to drink.

Plan your travel

Plan your trip by train or flight and then on road

You can reach Siliguri by train (New Jalpaiguri) or by flight (Bagdogra).

At Siliguri you can come to the SNT (Sikkim Nationalized Transport) bus terminus for a bus or shared ride to Singtam (in Sikkim).

Bus is about Rs 200 per person. Shared ride is about Rs 500 per person. Bus is more comfortable in general.

Alternatively you can book at wizzride.com for a shared AC Innova to Singtam (this is in Sikkim), Rs 1100 per person.

At Singtam, please ask for the Temi/Tarku shared taxi stand and get:
- Shared ride to Temi, Rs 100 per person
- A private taxi to Temi, Rs 1200 full taxi

Internet

Your access to the world
