Nayeli's passion for the beauty industry began at a young age, growing up in Mexico and accompanying their mother to haircutting classes where they would be a model for them to practice haircutting and hairstyling on. Having lived next door to a barbershop during their childhood, their admiration for the beauty industry only grew.

Being raised in Southern California, Nayeli began dedicating their free time watching YouTube videos on different makeup, haircutting and haircoloring techniques in high school. During this time, she developed an interest in special effects makeup, editorial,glam makeup and vivid haircoloring. Leading her to create their professioal artistic brand Cutthroatbeauty (@cuthroatbeauty). After graduating high school, Nayeli enrolled in the cosmetology program at her local community college, becoming a licensed hairdresser at the age of 19. Shortly after, she returned to school and recieved her associate's degree in cosmetology in 2018 and began working behind the chair and doing hair professionally in 2019.

Over the past seven years working in a coorporate salon setting, Nayeli has been trained in Paul Mitchell color. However, she is constantly learning and expanding her knowledge to include other color lines.When in the salon, Nayeli enjoys getting the opportunity to work on styles such as wolfcuts, shags, mullets, burst fades, modcuts, bobs, and other layered cuts. With haircolor, Nayeli is skilled in highlighting, short hair grey blending and lived-in color, but they take a liking to more alternative coloring techniques such as: color blocking, calicos, peekaboos/halo, moneypieces.

Outside of the salon, Nayeli likes to attend concerts, discovering new music and exploring the local music scene, in addition to attending local queer events to find community in and understanding different subcultures. They also enjoy going to the movies and watching new releases, and take a liking to horror, thriller, slasher and indie films. They love analyzing movies, film and other media and love picking apart the costume and makeup design to understand how the design choices contribute to the plot; they hope to get the opportunity to work in that industry someday.
