* MUNIPALITY OF TAGUDIN ILOCOS SUR Welcome to our municipality of TAGUDIN Tagudin is actually an interesting town that can give you history lessons and interesting trivia. It is still the first town from the south The name Tagudin was derived from the native drying rack ("pagtagudan") where raw cotton ("sag-ot") was spread out and brushed into threads with coconut husk.The "pag-tagudan" was a common tool during the time when Ilocano blankets were traded in markets as far south as Manila and were well known even to the Igorots on the Pacific side of Luzon. This is Saint Augustine Church -The centuries-old church bore witness to the 400 years of Spanish rule in the country. Here in tagudin we have a festival which is TIKANLU FESTIVAL we celebrate it every may 1-5 a year We celebrate tikanlu festival because this is a cultural heritage-based festival that focuses on the intangible heritage on how to cook native rice cake delicacies such as TInubong, KANkanen and LUbi-lubi. Tinubong is a dessert made by combining rice flour, coconut milk, sugar, and strips of coconut. Ilocanos claim that this originated from their region. Well, the name itself is a proof. It is derived from the Ilocano term “tubong” which means an internode of a bamboo. Tinubong is one of the most common take-home delicacies of tourists. Kankanen is a Pangasinan word that means native rice delicacies or sweet products made of sticky rice such as "biko" and "suman". Residents of Asingan are mostly into agriculture, especially rice planting. Lubi-lubi is an Ilocano native rice cake made of boiled root crops (may include bananas and coconut). This delicacy is served during a neighborhood "bonding" feast of the same name. Mt tabur (view deck) The view deck is located in Brgy. Bio which is the southernmost barangay in Tagudin, also the first barangay you have to take in Ilocandia when you are traveling by land from the south. The viewing deck is located at the top of a hill.
