I really enjoyed this book. As the book progressed, I had a hard time putting it down. There was a poetic style to the writing that I enjoyed. The author offered a glimpse into a culture that I was not familiar with. And a glimpse into the lives of moms in a complicated adoptive/biological mom struggle. I felt the pain and hurt of her adoptive mother as her daughter's journey to find her biological mom began. I felt her hurt and confusion as to why her daughter felt the need to find her birth mom. And I found her birth mom's reaction to meeting her daughter unexpected. It's a good read!

I’ve always enjoyed memoirs and learning the lives of others. As I read I felt I was part of the story feeling all emotions of Esther as she discovered the many challenges that are faced in a young girls life through adulthood . Her story made me laugh and cry with an ending that touched my heart.

This is an inspiring story of a young adopted woman and her relationship with her parents and the search for her birth mother. She overcame many obstacles in her life. It is honestly told and heartbreaking at times. She's a remarkable woman.

This book was hard to put down I could hardly wait to read each chapter to learn more about Esther and her life in both France and Israel. Bravo to Ms Elgarat on her brilliant debut memoir!

This was a quick, heartfelt, and at times gut-wrenching read. It was exactly what I was looking for! Odelia is a talented writer and has a way of really connecting you with the characters. In some cases, I actually would have preferred more character development but only because I was feeling selfish and didn't want the story to end. Overall, a talented first book from a writer we are sure to see and hear a lot more about!

I wish I had a chance to read it in the own language of the author. The story is influential. The writer is frankly intrepid. I loved and admired it.
