Hello, I’m Dr. Charles Mueller — aka Dr. Goth. I hold an M.A. in Music Education from Portland State University and a Ph.D. in Historical Musicology from Florida State University.

My research on popular music has been published in Volume: La revue des musiques populaires, Gothic Studies, and by Ashgate and Cambridge University Press. I focus on popular music and the Cold War, youth subcultures, and gender in music across a variety of genres.

Outside of academia, I play guitar, explore the Oregon coast, seek out great Asian cuisine, and binge British shows. I live in Oregon with my girlfriend Britt and our dog, Mr. King Tut.
