About Me

On my own journey...

Hey there!

My name is Ebeney and I am 20 years old from Sydney, Australia.

I have been vegan for almost 6 years now and I am on a mission to help people live a healthier and more eco friendly lifestyle.

I have been sharing lots of vegan and eco friendly alternatives on my Instagram as well as recipes and outfit ideas.

I have recently started up a YouTube channel under the name Eco Ebeney to give more of an insight into my life, how to be more eco friendly as well as a few fun videos here and there.

While my journey to helping others is only just beginning, I know I have already made an impact in a few people’s lives and that’s an amazing outcome for me.

I hope you can join me on my journey to being more eco friendly and sustainable and hopefully I can encourage you to do the same 💌

Eco Friendly Period

Simple changes you can make for you and the planet 🌏

There’s an enormous range of period products on the market these days, however many of them are unsustainable, full of toxins and their packaging will most likely outlive you!

This is why I am going to show you 3 alternatives to your general supermarket period products that will have a beneficial impact on both you and the environment 🌱

Menstrual Cups

This is my absolute number 1 recommendation for an alternative period product!!

A menstrual cup is made from medical grade silicone and lasts up to 10 years, how amazing is that! You’ll never have to buy pads or tampons again! Not only are you saving the environment, you’re saving money 💰

Menstrual cups are eco friendly, toxin free and completely reusable. As well as this, you can leave them in for up to 12 hours and not have to worry about Toxic Shock Syndrome! Phew, what a relief.

There are SO many cup brands out there now:

☼ Lunette Cup

☼ Hello Cup

☼ Diva Cup

☼ Athena Cup

☼ Juju Cup

☼ Saalt Co Cup

And these are just a few!

I personally use the Diva Cup as it works best for me and my body. I have tried a few cups and it took me a while to find what works best for me, so don’t be discouraged if the first cup you buy is too small or too big, or just isn’t the right shape.

It’s will probably take a few days or periods to get used to using the cup as well, so take on this learning experience with a positive mindset and don’t be disheartened if it takes you a while to master using a cup!

Period Undies

Period undies are a must have for all girls!! I cannot recommend these enough.

Period undies are basically a super comfortable pair of undies that have a pad built into the design. They can absorb up to the same amount as 3 tampons of blood.

You can use these as a back up with your menstrual cup or you can wear them on your lighter days instead of pads/liners.

One thing I hate about pads and liners is how uncomfortable they are, they don’t stay in place, they leak and they make you feel like you’re wearing a nappy! With period undies, you can even tell that you have a pad protecting you, it’s that comfortable.

The two brands I strongly recommend are:

☼ Love Luna - can be found in Woolworths and online, very affordable and accessible.

☼ ModiBodi - can be found online, has a larger range of styles however is more expensive.

I use Love Luna as I bought mine from Woolworths however both are amazing and I can’t recommend them enough!

All you need to do is wear, wash in the washing machine, dry and wear again!

Never having to buy pads and liners again is convenient, eco friendly and will save you money!

Eco Friendly Pads, Tampons, Liners

While I praise reusable period products, I know not everyone will be keen to jump on board straight away, this is why I am including eco friendly pads, tampons and liners as well!

Not only are generic period products not eco friendly, they’re full of bleaches, toxins and have the added risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome!

It is important for your body to be cautious of what products you’re using, as your body absorbs all the toxins and nasty chemicals which is not what we want!

My favourite brands of eco friendly alternatives are:

☼ Tsuno - sells bamboo pads, liners and 100% organic cotton tampons. They are packaged in plastic free biodegradable materials. Not only is this brand eco friendly, 50% of profits go towards supporting OneGirl, an organisation that helps girls in Uganda and Sierra Leone get an education! Available online and in select stores.

☼ Tom Organic - sells 100% organic cotton pads, tampons and liners packaged in plant based materials. This is a great brand that is super convenient as you can purchase their products from both Coles and Woolworths. Definitely something to look out for the next time you’re shopping for period products!

It’s important to choose sustainable options when buying period products as most of the generic store products are not biodegradable and products tonnes of waste annually worldwide.

Small changes and choices can make a huge difference!

Safety Razors

5 reasons to switch to a safety razor

The thought of a safety razor can be quite daunting, I know. But I can promise you that you will not regret making the switch and Mother Earth will thank you 🙌🏻

1. Environmentally friendly.

Millions of disposable razors are thrown away annually around the globe, which is very unsustainable as you can imagine.

A safety razors entire body is plastic free and will last a lifetime of care for correctly and the individual blades come wrapped in paper. As well as this, the blades are recyclable.

2. Easy on the wallet

It’s no secret that buying new razors every month is expensive, however when you buy a safety razor it is a one off expensive purchase ($30-$80 depending on quality) that will last a lifetime and be cheaper in the long run.

Not only this, the blades are around $4.50 for a box of 5 blades and $6 for a box of 10! Now that’s a bargain!

3. Less irritation

When you use a normal razor, it will have anywhere from 2-5 blades which means you’re running 2-5 blades over your skin compared to just one. This can cause irritation, razor burn and ingrown hairs.

When you use a safety razor, you are only running one sharp blade over the skin and when kept at a 30° angle you will have the smoothest skin you had in a long time!! I can promise you that!

4. Less break outs

For the guys out there, if you ever find your skin breaking out after a shave, here’s why.

The cartridges on normal razors can accumulate dirt, old skin cells and rust which when put in contact with your face can irritate it and cause you to break out!

Safety razors are super easy to clean and if cleaned after every use you should have no problem with post shave pimples!

5. Let’s be real, they just look hella good!
