Hi, and welcome to my miniature portfolio!
My name is Emerald Gilana and I’m currently studying and pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Design, as well as 2 Minors (Graphic and Interaction Design). As of now besides school, I’ve been open and interested in doing design/illustration commissions. I also began marketing some of my sticker designs on redbubble, and I love taking photos on the side.
As an aspiring Designer, I would like this site to serve as my personal public portfolio showcasing my skills/capabilities, passions, and work interest.

Goal: Using 3 rectilinear forms, create a composition.

Goal: Exploration of curves, lines, and general shape through space while keeping it asymmetrical. The eye should be able to follow the form in one direction.

The Elia Helmet (2022)
Goal: Commuter Helmet Concept Design
Inspired by: Italian Architecture, Turtle Shells, & Arches National Park
Features: hidden triangles, inner venting, single hand strap system, led light
A helmet that carries less material than a regular commuter helmet, but is just as safe, more aerodynamic, and overall is more comfortable for an average biker.
**named after Antonio Sant’Elia (an Italian architectural visionary)

Poster and short description/bio about typographer and graphic designer Wim Crouwel (designed and rendered by me). This piece was mainly inspired by his work “Edgar Fernhout 1963.”

3 Typographic Posters (2022)
Designing 3 conceptually different yet typographically interesting posters for the same subject.
“Letters: A Code System” is an event that is being hosted by the Letterform Archive, a center in San Francisco that showcases and offers hands-on access to a curated collection of over 40,000 items related to lettering, typography, calligraphy, and graphic design, spanning 2,000 years of history.

A conceptual double portrait of myself for a class final. I asked friends and family to tell me one word they would use to describe me; the most popular word was “adventurous.”
