Cuddles and hedgies

I’m a small self made hedgehog business

Hello my name is Emmy, I have been a hedgehog owner for about a year now and I’ve learned so much just in that amount of time. I love my hedgies so much, they are my baby’s. They have brought me so much joy and I would love for others to experience that as well. I will be sure not to inbreed ( breed the same bloodline). All hedgehogs will come with a small teddy bear that you can cuddle or put in the cage with your new hedgie as they love stuffed animals(free of charge). The bears are one of the freebies but if you want more than one each extra is $1. If you have any questions or worries you can contact me by the number below. Visit either of the social media platforms below, that is where most of the selling will be done.

My Tips and pointers for new hedgie owners

My top recommendations for new hedgie owners

Here are a couple things that will come in handy with your new friend.

#1 Clean the environment regularly

First off make sure the structure/cage you are housing them in is clean and fits the environmental needs of a hedgehog, which we will discuss in tip #2. Make sure to clean your hedgehog’s structure once a week(clean more often if you have more than one). Dump out all the shavings and replace them with new ones. Make sure all the feces is scrubbed off the walls and floors to the best of your ability. Make sure all toys and hiding places are cleaned when needed.

#2 environmental needs of a hedgehog

Wood shavings (any kind you like) about two-three inches thick is the recommended height so it’s not to deep but they can burrow. Make sure you have plenty of toys and things to play with in the cage including- small toy balls, a hedgehog wheel, stuffed animals, tubes and mazes etc.(you don’t have to buy all of these they are just toys that hedgehogs love.) Make sure you have plenty of hiding spaces. If the hedgehog flips things over you can pick them up but do not reorganize the cage until you have to clean it because they move things to the way they like it. Make sure you have shady parts of the structure along with hiding spots and houses especially if you have an albino hedgehog they are quite sensitive to bright lights. Make sure they stay in a good temperatured room between 75 degrees Fahrenheit to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

#3 food tips

As an ocasional snack hedgies love berries, melons, bananas, mangos, kiwi and other fresh fruits and veggies. Do not give a hedgehog dairy products as they are lactose intolerant. Hedgehogs especially love mealworms and crickets. Make sure you are giving them hedgehog feed when needed and only use treats occasionally. Make sure the food and water bowls/cups are clean all the time.

#4 nocturnal friends

Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals meaning they sleep and are less active during the day and are very active and awake at night. If it is dark outside try not to keep your light on very long because they want to start moving and playing. You can play with your hedgie friend during the day just make sure to give them some alone time to wind down as well. Hedgehogs may be kind of loud in the night because they are running around and playing.
