Maddy’s Story
My grandfather, Everett Kriebel, was a long time member of the Worcester Volunteer Fire Department. Growing up in the absence of a father figure, my grandfather was my biggest role model. When he passed away in April of 2019, it took a toll on me, mentally. He meant so much to me and to many others of the Worcester community and Central Schwenkfelder Church. The following year, I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. I struggled to recover from his passing, but found an outlet in running. This stemmed my interest in not only running but supporting others who are feeling the same way. To anyone who is struggling, you are not alone.
The End the Stigma 5k is a nonprofit event that donated 100% of its proceeds to Mental Health America, an organization that helped people like me.
