✨Sam Medina✨

Hi there everyone and if you’re reading this, I just want to say welcome and thank you for taking the time of coming to my page. To be honest I wasn’t really quite sure what my personal legend was going to be, but starting as a pre-teen my mother always trusted me enough to want me to pluck her eyebrows, dye her hair, do her makeup, and many other mother daughter things so I knew ‘beauty’ was going to be one of my special talents. My mother was a beautiful, strong, resilient, powerful woman who came to this country with nothing but her hopes and dreams to raise her family into greatness. When we found out that she had cancer, I saw the struggles that she faced. Going to all those chemotherapies eventually lead her to loss of hair, memorization, and of course triggering her emotions and ego which only enhanced her depression. I remember doing her makeup during her chemo days and I can never forget how happy and beautiful she felt. A part of me always knew that I wanted to get into beauty and she has always been my biggest inspiration. When I finally decided that I wanted to get my brows done, I realized how much I loved the art of brows and that I wanted to help other women feel beautiful even when they didn’t feel that. I never thought I would ever find myself tattooing, but with this new ‘Tebori’ technique derived from Asia, I was able to gain an understanding of how to create a natural looking everyday brow without the use of any machines. Not only can brows shape someone’s appearance, mood, or self-esteem, but it also saves you time and you can wake up feeling amazing or get your sweat on without having to wipe them off. Imagine that! Let me be the one to bless them brows girl... Ya tu sabes 💜@sammylamami

What IS Microblading?

Microblading originated in Asia and is known as eyebrow embroidery, 3D brows, micropigmentation, or microstroking. It is the least invasive form of cosmetic tattooing and considered to be semi permanent makeup. The procedure is done using a handheld device that uses a very fine blade to deposit safe, high quality, cruelty free pigment in to the skin. The result is natural and fuller looking eyebrows that you won't have to fill in with makeup every day.

Tebori Technique

Microblading History

Microblading is based on old tattooing techniques called Tebori from Asia. This technique is performed with manual tools consisting of a group of needles, that create fine incisions in the skin.

FUN FACT: There is no “blade” at all. There are many configurations of individual needles soldered together with any number of shape profiles. As a result, we get natural-looking hair-like strokes. Results depend on skin type, skin condition, and structure.

Body Tattoos vs. Semi-Perminant Makeup Tattoos

Everyone’s preconception of the word ‘tattoo’ usually is of body tattoos which are permanent and last a lifetime. Body tattoos use cheap machines, cheap needles, and cheap pigments. All do what they are required to do however body tattoo pigments are implanted much deeper into the skin and spread over time, blurring the once crisp tattoo lines, with all colour pigments eventually turning blue due to how the pigments are made – with blue hue as there base color. On the contrary microblading pigments are totally different compared to body tattoo pigments.

With Semi-permanent makeup (Microblading) the pigment is placed only into the upper EPIDERMIS layer of the skin so as the skin cells naturally ex-foliate the pigment is expelled causing the pigment to fade over time. Permanent body tattoo pigments are implanted deeper into the DERMIS layer where the cells are more stable allowing the tattoo to last a lifetime. Most semi permanent make up treatments such as Microblading will last between 2 and 5 years depending on skin conditions and exposure to UV rays. A touch up is required after 12 – 24 months to keep the pigment looking fresh. After 5 years semi permanent make up pigments will pretty much fade out of the skin completely if not touched up.

Microblading Criteria

Who should avoid microblading?

Those prone to keloids or post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. Unfortunately, since microblading punctures the skin as we add ink, we cannot work with clients with these conditions:
✨Diabetes. Depending on the type and severity, a Medical clearance may be needed.
✨Are on blood-thinners. We recommend not to be on any blood thinners prior to your microblading procedure. If this is required by a physician DO NOT discontinue to take your medication. Speak with your artist about an alternative. Depending on the blood thinner and how frequently taken we may just suggest a different technique to give you still a beautiful result.
✨If you have an Auto-immune. We will need a medical clearance to perform the procedure.
If you’ve had Juvederm or other fillers in that area. Depending on the timing, we recommend to get microblading first! Otherwise, check with your doctor.
✨Patients undergoing chemotherapy. Although microblading is great for restoring eyebrows, we would require a doctor’s note in order to perform the procedure for anyone undergoing chemotherapy.
✨If you have any kind of skin condition on or near your eyebrows. This includes eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows.
Those with oily skin. Those with very oily skin are unfortunately usually not good candidates for microblading. Those oily skin, may consider a microblading plus shading combo.
✨Those with a dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoo or permanent makeup. The tattoo or permanent makeup must be light enough for us to draw hairstrokes. We ask anyone with a previous eyebrow tattoo to send us an email with a picture of their eyebrows with no makeup on, so we can evaluate.
✨Those with allergies to alcohol or numbing agents. If you think you might have an allergy to our ink, numbing cream, or alcohol (which is in the ink), then you may have a reaction to our work.
✨Under the age of 18 ! We do not recommend microblading for anyone under the age of 18.
