Fanicia Howard

Behind The Pen

Fanicia Howard is a native of Chicago, Illinois. Since childhood, Howard has always embraced her passion for expression of art through her writing.

In 2010, she moved to Atlanta, to pursue her Bachelors degree at Clark Atlanta University. During her matriculation, she did an internship as a writer for the digital independent magazine INSPIRE, and developed various pieces of creative writing diligently. During this time, she also began to understand her calling was to become an author and that poetry was the literary form that would give her an artistic voice.

After graduating in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in English, Howard began crafting a chapbook of what would later be, roughly, five years worth of poetry entitled, Letters to an Anonymous Heart.

She officially released her debut chapbook in 2017 followed by her second chapbook, Heartstrings in 2019.

Howard’s poetry explores topics such as spirituality , sexuality, heartbreak, nature restoration, empowerment, romance, and freedom. She uses her poetry to connect individuals through, common experiences, emotions, and ideas- which unify us all within the human experience of living life.
